The Saks Fall Sale Edit: 15 Pieces to Wear on Repeat

I love a good statement piece. Example A: this jacket. But, it’s no secret that I love some good basics, and come every fall and winter…I’m yearning for darker tones and neutrals even more. So. I scrolled through Saks Fifth Ave’s fall sale (as I do), on the hunt for pieces worth adding to my rotation.

What I ended up with? A semi-neutral-loving capsule for the rest of fall and into winter — fifteen pieces that I could see myself, quite frankly, never getting sick of. And while a lot of these picks fit in ‘fall staples’ territory, there’s definitely nothing basic about them.

And we have some fun, of course. I could never say no to a graphic crew, even in red. Yup, fun. Okay, let’s get into the rest.

1. If Only Studio Leopard Print Short Faux-Fur Coat

jacket

I’ve been loving on leopard for a bit now, and I find it waaaay more versatile than I ever could’ve imagined. And they’re the kinda pieces I get the most compliments on, so bonus points for that. What I love about this one in particular, though — the cropped cut for high-waisted or mid-rise jeans, and that the leopard print is a little more subtle and dark.

2. Anine Bing Ashton Concert T-Shirt

tee

A washed-out, vintage-y looking tee will be in my forever wardrobe. Even when I’m feeling the bright graphics, I’ll always stay true to this washed-out gray graphic.

3. rag & bone Flexi Sofie Ankle Wide-Leg Jeans

jeans

The color of this denim is what first drew me in, but that silhouette is awesome. Perfect kinda day to night denim.

4. Favorite Daughter The Cropped Charles Trench

jacket

Shana sent this over to me, and I knew I had to include it. I’ve been loving all the different takes on not-so-classic denim jackets. This one especially strikes that perfect balance between casual and sleek, and it’s a lot more exciting than traditional styles.

5. rag & bone RBNY Oversized Cotton-Blend Sweatshirt

crewneck

I LOVE this crew. It’s simple, but still fun with the pop of red. And I love the old movie theater 3D lettering. It’s the kinda graphic I don’t see myself getting tired of. S just ordered, btw.

6. Hudson Jeans James Denim High-Rise Wide-Leg Trousers

jeans

If trousers and jeans had a baby — this pair. So dang sleek, and perfect if you have casual Friday at the office, but I’d even wear them for a night out to dinner.

7. Hudson Jeans Faux Leather Jacket

jacket

I’ve had this style of jacket in my wardrobe for…maybe eight years now. No matter the trends, no matter what else I’m wearing, it ends up on me every single fall and winter. I just love all the details — it’s what makes a simple black top and loose jeans combo feel interesting without trying too hard.

8. Vince Striped Rib-Knit Stretch-Cotton Shirt

tee

First things first: the fabric. It’s a stretchy cotton (so it has a little spandex), which I always appreciate, and it’s ribbed (also always appreciate that). Just lays on the bod much nicer. Second, these retro striped tees are going nowhere, and always look cool.

9. Varley Hawley Half-Zip Sweatshirt

half-zip

Another piece both Shana and I have our eyes on. She’s picturing it with light wash flares and brown boots. For casual days I’m picturing it with leggings, tall socks, retro sneaks and a bomber jacket. It’s the sort of thing that despite how simple, you end up grabbing it every single day. I think everyone needs at least one good-quality, sleek half-zip, too.

10. La Ligne Fine V-Neck Sweater

sweater

Okaaaay, I LOVE how this looks on Shana. Perfectly slouchy, long-enough sleeves for cold hands, and 100% cashmere dreaminess.

11. Theory Cashmere Knit Crop T-Shirt

cashmere tee (on sale in ‘light charcoal’)

I think cashmere tees are kinda genius. If you’re like me and tend to run hot (and are around people who love to blast the heat), this is my solution. Still getting the knit feel without too much warmth. Great for layering under heavy-duty jackets, too.

12. UGG Marlene Sherpa Jacket

jacket

Couldn’t believe this UGG jacket was under $100! It would make such a good gift because who doesn’t love a fuzzy, cozy jacket to throw on for running errands, school pick-ups and daily life things? And I actually love the longer zipper detail, just makes it more interesting.

13. Anine Bing Jay Bing Oversize Sweatshirt

sweatshirt tee

Even without the graphic, this tee is way more interesting than a plain, fitted white one. The oversized sleeves make it feel deliberate — a simple style switch that actually stands out in the best way. Chic, if you will. Oh, and it’s technically a sweatshirt so it’s a little warmer and cozy.

14. Good American Rib-Knit Bell-Sleeve Cardigan

cardigan

I’ve been peeking at this cardigan for a bit now. Again, the simple switch to a bell sleeve just makes it so much more interesting and fun. And I love a little dramatic sleeve.

15. Joe’s Jeans Margot Straight-Leg Jeans

jeans

I gottta get my hands on some cords because I cannot get enough of the rich textures and deep colors. It’s the kinda thing that makes even a plain sweater and boots feel swoon-worthy.

Hope you guys found some fall staples in the mix for your wardrobes, too!
