Juneteenth celebrations are on the horizon, and we just noted the commemoration of Tulsa Race Massacre, which happened 100 years ago this week, as well as the one-year anniversary of George Floyd’s murder and the reignition of a movement. As we reflect on these events and strive to support our communities, and as part of our ongoing commitment to increase our coverage of Black-owned businesses, we want to highlight some of the coolest Black Lives Matter t-shirts from Black-owned brands.

1. A Tree of Us
A Tree of Us is a Black-owned Etsy shop that has some amazing Black Lives Matter prints — tees, sweatshirts, bags, mugs, and some options for kids with a fun botanical/floral print. They’re offering our readers 15% off now thru Juneteenth (June 19) with code THEMOMEDITFRIENDS15!
Laura’s Pick: Black Lives Matter Kids Shirt
Laura says: Couldn’t resist these gorgeous tees when Scotti shared the link. Mine is on the way, but Sienna’s arrived in this rad yellow and she loves it. She’s 8, wears a 7/8 and has on the kiddo Medium here. This design is my fav!
Scotti’s Pick (On Zack): BLM Botanical Sweatshirt
Scotti says: I couldn’t resist getting Zack this sweatshirt from A Tree of Us…the designs are just so simple, clean and unique.
MisfitCulture on Etsy has a TON of awesome BLM tees…not only will they have any shirt you could POSSIBLY be looking for, but you can custom order the exact colors and styles you want (both shirt and fonts). I was originally loving the simple black and white, but Scotti has me reconsidering with that hot pink. I really suggest taking the time to read all of the quotes, too…there’s a bunch and they’re good.
Scotti’s Pick: Misfit Culture Black Lives Matter Shirt
Scotti says: I love that Misfit Culture offers both a fitted and regular fit tee…I loved the smaller fit of the fitted tee, but there’s no stretch, just FYI. (I’m wearing a medium here and it was perfect.)
The Etsy shop Shea Butter Apparel has an array of BLM items that are so minimally cute–including a colorful font tee and a phone case. They have great reviews and are a nice simple and graphic addition to any wardrobe.
Amy’s Pick: Black Lives Matter T-Shirt
Amy says: I’m obsessed with the minimalistic font and design of this tee and it comes in multiple colors.
Visibly Black is one of the only Black-owned, American-based clothing companies that sources 90% of its materials from United States suppliers. Headquartered in Detroit they have an impressive collection of streetwear and apparel.
Linzi’s Pick: Say Their Names Tee
Linzi says: This particular Say Their Names Tee feels especially powerful.
Ink and Cotton Shop on Etsy has a wide range of graphic tee shirts. Not only are they beautiful designs that make a statement, but also a part of their proceeds are donated to the Equal Justice Initiative, founded by Bryan Stevenson, and Borealis Philanthropy’s Black-Led Movement Fund.
Meredith’s Pick: John Lewis T-Shirt
Meredith says: Ink and Cotton Shop has tons of shirt options, but I was drawn to this quote about “good trouble” from the late John Lewis. It’s a phrase I try to live by in my antiracism efforts. You can customize the shirt in different colors, styles, etc.
Legend Influence on Etsy has a TON of tees with awesome black lives matter prints and quotes from Malcom X, Langston Hughes, and Kamala Harris (just to name a few). They’re mostly in black and white prints, but there’s a few colorful options, too.
Danielle’s Pick: Black Lives Matter Shirt
Danielle says: If you’re not really into bold prints, colors and fonts (like me)… this one’s perfect! It’ll fit in great with the rest of the neutrals in my closet.
She is Resilient Co. is a brand with such a strong message. Their goal is to empower women in so many different ways…love that. They have so many cute colorful tee shirts and cozy crew necks. I seriously want them all.
