Like a lot of you guys, I’ve been wearing linen pants in the summer for years–I’m always on the hunt for comfortable, soft, flattering versions of them. Linen pants are that perfectly versatile closet option you can easily dress up or down, and they’re especially great when you don’t want to wear shorts.
Roxy’s beach pants have been favorites of mine for years, but they’re definitely made for less curvy bodies–I wear a large to accommodate my booty. (Tip: reviewers say they run small and long, but make sure to wash them before you get them hemmed, as they shrink a ton–I’ve made that mistake before!) Caslon also made a favorite pair that I even wore during my pregnancy, but they’ve since been replaced these belted linen pants or this jogger version, neither of which I’ve tried yet. (Has anyone else tried them? Is this worth another post or is that too much linen coverage?? LOL)
Athleta Cabo Linen: Swoon-Worthy Pants, Joggers & Shorts
So when I saw Athleta’s Cabo Linen options, I wanted to give them a try. That waistband is a bit higher and thicker than I’m used to (which could be a good or bad thing depending on how they fit), but I like the overall shape and zipper details. I decided to try the wide leg pants, the joggers and the 4″ shorts. I ordered all of them in a size 6 regular (the joggers and pants also come in petite sizes), my usual size.
Athleta Cabo Linen Wide Leg Pants
Athleta’s Cabo Linen Wide Leg pants are my favorites. They’re wide leg, but flare just slightly enough at the bottom to make the shape a little more flattering. They were a little tight when I was pulling them up over my booty (there’s no zipper or anything), but once they were on they felt great. I like the regular length (I’m 5’4″) because they were just long enough that I could wear them with a lower heel (these sandals have a 2″ heel). If I was going to wear them with flats, I probably would have gone down to the petite option. I also washed them to see if they’d shrink, and they washed–and dried!–beautifully. There wasn’t a ton of shrinkage, and although they got slightly wrinkly, that wasn’t a huge deal to me–most linen is prone to wrinkles anyway. Oh, and I love the zipper detail on the pockets. These are a win!

Athleta Cabo Linen Joggers
These are the exact same pants but with an elastic bottom. Still tight when I’m pulling over my booty, but great once they’re on. I love the fit, and the jogger is kind of a fun update to the wider leg linen pants I always wear–I just wish they made these in the same grey that the wide leg pants come in because I can’t justify keeping both . . . or can I? These also come in a tall version, as well as the regular and petite, so you tall girls–these are perfect for you! (Cam & Gwen, I’m looking at you.)

Athleta Cabo Linen Shorts
I was actually really surprised I liked these. Shorts, especially pull-ons, are typically really hard for me to find. These are super-comfortable and fit really nicely. You can wear them higher up (the first pic below) or pull them lower around your hips (lower left pic) depending on how you like it. I’d throw on a hoodie and flip flops for casual days, or pair them with strappy sandals and a cami like this to dress them up a bit (and, of course, lipstick and jewelry). These also come in a shortie version with a length of 3.5″.

Athleta Skyline Pant II
OK, so these obviously aren’t linen, but I wanted to include them because they’re so freaking comfortable. If you had told me a couple years ago that I’d be wearing high-waisted pleats, I would have laughed at you . . . but here they are and I’m liking them. The only thing I don’t like is the color. It’s just a bit too . . . khaki for me. Especially when paired with the aforementioned high-rise pleats. BUT . . . this fabric?? Amazing. So soft, lightweight and stretchy, I have them coming in black (trying the petite size–I had to fold the 6R for the right length) and I love the light blue color as well. Oh, and they’re also available in a shorts version, which I’m not sure about yet. (Has anyone tried them?? Let us know in the comments!)

I’m really loving Athleta’s bottoms right now–I recently ordered Athleta’s Venture Pants and their Brooklyn Joggers for an upcoming review, so stay tuned for that!
XOXO,
