Lately, I have been one stressed chickadee. I’ve been running on empty for quite some time, and I’m in need of some serious zen. I wish I could say I’m the kind of person who turns to meditation, yoga, moving my body, and eating well when feeling some type of way, but in fact, the opposite is true for me.

These days I have hardly been working out, my eating habits have changed, and I’ve even been sleeping poorly. Sleep aside (I blame that on my recent mattress debacle), I truly am in need of finding time for myself again — of taking the initiative to move my body — even if it’s for 10 minutes a day as recommended by my therapist — and doing the things that make me feel good inside and out.

Zen Inspo: Yoga Gear & Cute Workout Sets At Backcountry

Yoga is always a great change of pace for me, so I was excited to see that Backcountry has some stellar staples to help me get all my yogi/chi/zen vibes on!

When I need some extra motivation to get moving, I like to treat myself to a few new exercise pieces. I was totally intrigued by this Yeti yoga mat, and I can never seem to pass up a new pair of leggings and matching crop top. (And ps. this super-soft pair from Beyond Yoga is still on sale in certain colors!) Backcountry has everything I need to feel inspired to spend some time on my mat again.

Yoga Outfit Details

Right now, Backcountry is having a Spring Sale! Take up to 35% off a ton of great finds. And even if you’re not shopping the sale, be sure to use code THEMOMEDIT for 15% off full-priced items! (exclusions apply)

top: Free People Movement Cropped Run Tank Top – I am a sucker for a good crop top, and I always tend to gravitate toward Free People’s cropped tanks because they hug my body perfectly, and they stay put during my workouts! I am wearing a size M/L and will say that these are designed to fit a wide range of sizes. The light pink, ribbed detailing, and high neckline are all on-trend for the season.

leggings: Beyond Yoga Space-Dyed Leggings – I have been living in the Beyond Yoga space-dyed leggings. They are buttery soft, and I love the ever-so-slight heathered fabric that adds some dimension to the legging. I already own these in several classic colors (ie., black and gray) but I am loving the vibrant Orchid Haze color for spring and summer.

sandals: Free People Flatform Moree Slide – These slides just say ‘yoga’ to me. They are super-comfortable and easy to slide on after a zen sesh!

Yoga Props For A Deeper Zen & Stretch Moment

Yoga is a much-needed change of pace, so cute workout sets & cool yoga gear are just the zen inspo we need to get our yogi/chi vibes on.

Since I’m a bit rusty with my stretching these days, I needed a few yoga props to help me get into some deeper stretches and zen out. I personally love yoga props — but had never invested in them. If there were one accessory I would call a must-have, it’s this yoga strap. It’s great for solo yogi sessions when you don’t have a partner to help you transition into more challenging poses.

Yoga Mat: Yeti Yoga Mat – The Yeti yoga mats are lightweight and can be easily brought along for travel. They have a great grip, and come in so many fun patterns and colors. I’m especially crushing on this pattern that was a collaboration between Yeti and Leah Duncan — such a gorgeous design.

Yoga Strap: Manduka AligN Yoga Strap – I have been doing yoga since I was 16, and I can’t believe that it has taken me years to finally buy a yoga strap. It’s a total game-changer for getting into those harder poses that often require an assist from a partner or instructor. This one is super easy to adjust and comes in several colors, too.

Yoga Pillow: Hugger Mugger Standard Solid Bolster – This stability-boosting bolster is one of my favorites to use when you get into śavāsana. Because I have a larger bum, my back arches when I try to lay flat. Years ago one of my instructors introduced me to what is called the cloud śavāsana where you lay your back on top of the bolster and have a pillow propped under your neck. It’s my favorite way to take śavāsana and now I can do it at home! It’s also super-helpful for for sitting in sukhasana.

Yoga Block: unBlok Recycled Foam Block – I love that these blocks are made out of recycled materials and that they have a slight curve to them. Blocks are great for helping you stabilize and can also be used to sit on too. Find even more foam blocks here.

  1. Thank you for making me think about pink as an option for yoga attire. I was just thinking my yoga clothes are so depressing (usually picking black or gray pants) and yoga (as a practice) is uplifting. I will for sure check out pink… also, I like that you created your own set. I need to branch out more.

  2. After years of practicing yoga and then a loooooooong dry spell, followed by sporadic attempts to get back on the mat, I am finally back to a daily practice thanks to Yoga With Adriene on Youtube. I’d heard her mentioned often enough that I finally thought, “OK, let’s check this chick out” and stumbled into her annual January 30 day program (still up! You can start anytime!) The best part is most of her practices hover somewhere around the 30 minute mark, which makes them totally doable in terms of both time and mental bandwidth. But there are even less than 10 minute practices and almost hour long practices, and if you type in “Yoga for X” (where X is “stress” or “sleep” or “sadness” or “text neck”…ANYTHING) you will find something that will work for you. 2 thumbs up! Highly recommend.
