Uhhhhhhhh. I’ll be honest, friends. I am at the end of my mother f*ckn rope. I was coasting for a while, with just those random crap days, but OH WOW. This week has kicked my bum. Maybe it’s that the frustration, disappointments and anxiety have all just been bubbling in my subconscious…and then it JUST decided to spill over into my very conscious mind?? I do not know…but I have had A WEEK. My week has had a week!
I am worn out, no longer want to guide my children through their school work, simultaneously caring too much about keeping my house clean all while not giving a flying flip about the mess everywhere (because honestly, I can’t keep up) and…andandand everyone in this house needs a break from the maddening monotony. Like, really…seriously. Help me, Lawd. I told my husband I may be losing my mind at this point. I go from crying to laughing hysterically about absolutely nothing. It’s interesting.
Now, I am just going to go ahead and assume that many, if not all of you, are in the exact same spot where I am. Yeh? Thought so. Well, solidarity, sister. *air hugs*
Boots, Shoes & Pants: Top 5 Memorial Day Sales Items I Own & Love
I have found a sort of escape by looking around at all of the sales happening right now and was happy to find that I already have some of the things that are currently on sale. Cool! Now I can share them with you and show ya how they actually look in real life land. ALSO, I included (near the bottom) the five things I have my eye on and would like to buy over the weekend. FYI.
1. Dr. Martens 1460 Boots
Nothing to not like about these boots. I wear them with most anything and definitely feel way cooler than I am while in them. BTW: I went down a half-size, because they do not come in half sizes. They fit comfortably! However, if you live in a cold climate, I would consider going up a half-size, so that you can also wear with thick socks.

dr. martens (wearing half-size down) + available on Shopbop | top (similar on sale here) | shorts (very similar Levi’s on sale here, I go up one size) | sunglasses (similar here from same brand)
2. DL1961 Hepburn High-Rise Wide-Leg
These jeans. Its hard to find the words, because I love them so! They are the perfect pair of white jeans, in my opinion. I can wear them (at 5’10) with a heel OR sneaker (they are slightly too long for sneaks, honestly, but I still do it). The cherry on top is the tie around the waist. I just love these jeans (and they come in a slew of colors, by the way).

wide leg jeans (TTS, wearing 27) | t-shirt (wearing S) | sneakers
3. Adidas SST Track Pants
These are the joggers from my Tall Girl Joggers post and…they are fantastic. I wear them around the house or out! The side zippers by the ankles bring me back to the ’90s, except they are a modern version of those baggy side striped pants of old. I am a big fan, so jump on these while they are still in stock.

track pants (wearing S) | tank (on sale!) | sneakers
4. Sam Edelman Isle Strappy Sandal
I had been waiting to find a dainty strapped sandal (with a low heel) for what seemed like an eternity. All of the ones that came out when the trend was fresh were too expensive, and I wasn’t about to spend $$$ on a pair of sandals. WELL. The wait is over for moi! Yessss. These Edelmans fit the bill. I envision wearing them with jeans, shorts, dresses and skirts…so, everything. They come in a few different colors, too, so everybody wins.

sandals (TTS, wearing 9.5) | jeans (stretchy version on sale here, exact style here) | tank (on sale)
5. GAP Utility Jogger In Linen Cotton
A jogger that comes in tall sizes…and they’re linen. aaaaaa. I could wear these all day, any day…any where!

Memorial Day Sales: The Top 5 Things I Want To Buy
1. Sorel Ella Sandal
FYI: They are also price-matched on Zappos here (the shipping may be a bit better, too). I have heard how great these sandals are (from many of you in The Mom Edit Insiders group over on Facebook), so…I am ready to experience them on my feet! If they’re anywhere near as comfortable as my favorite winter boots (from Sorel, of course) then…well, WINNERS. BTW: they come in many other colors, but I am sold on the dove grey.
2. Jacinta Cropped Cardigan By Anthropologie
I can’t get past this little jacket…or cardigan thingy. It reminds me more of a kimono jacket, but with fluttery, ruffled sleeves. I also really like that it’s cropped, because the high-waist trend in denim doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. I’d simply wear this with my favorite Levi’s, tank and sandals. DONE.
3. L-Space Waikiki Skort
I am not sure when I last wore a skort (I assume some time in the ’90s), but…I may be getting back into one again now in 2020. This L-Space, striped style has me so into it! I think it’s flirty and just fun! I’d pair with a fitted tee and sandals.
4. Ray-Ban Luxxottica Sunglasses
I have been wanting a more expensive pair of sunglasses, but a more classic pair…like these round Ray-Bans. I prefer a silver, but they also come in a few different styles and colors (I think I even saw a pink and blue reflective pair?!).
5. Bronx and Banco Tulip Dress
So, yes. I understand that this is not the most practical pick. I GET IT. lol. However, I really need something to look forward to right now and this dress…gosh. It’s almost bringing me to tears it’s so pretty. I think it’s just because I am imagining getting all dressed up to go out to a fancy event, makeup done, hair zhooshed and ummm…time away from my three wonderful children where I can eat, think and talk with grownups. sigh. gasp! *tears falleth in abundance*

Find me over on the gram (@camilledipaola) for more #TotallyCasualMotherhood moments.
Hey Cams! First off, I stand in awe of your being able to keep up in the SLIGHTEST with three small children. Seriously, girl. You’re … amazing. My hat (preferably an adorable raffia sunhat) is off to you.
And? THANK you for putting in words what my week has been like. As I was reading your account, I found myself nodding and internally being like, “Oh my goodness, I’m not the only one!” I felt the exact same way. It’s been awful, again and again and again this week. As you described it so well, I too have had crappy days, and sometimes multiple days in a row — but this week was in a class by itself for how relentlessly blarghy it was.
Definitely standing with you and supporting you. Massive hugs to you, wishing you peace and some light too this weekend.
Jennifer, thank you so much for taking the time to say all of that! Seriously. You always know you’re not alone, but…you don’t knowwww. It’s nice to hear from another mama. We’ll be okay. It’s not fun, but we’ll be fine! In fact, I think in a bit we’ll be FIRKIN GREAT! xoxo. Cams
Would love deets on the red dress she is wearing for the intro photo! xo
Hey Jordan! I was silly and didn’t link to a similar item (the one I am wearing is a couple of years old now). Here is a similar one I found — https://shopstyle.it/l/bh7k1
