Best Of J.Crew (There’s One Coat You Have To Try…)

I’ve been obsessed with J. Crew this season (er, for years now, actually). Their coats are awesome–from their (best-selling) Chateau Parka to their Cocoon Coat, I wanted to keep them all. They’re the best place for that comfy-sweater-and-fancy-earrings combo that’s perfect for Zoom calls, and they have all the festive prints that are perfect for the holidays.

So when I saw they had a puffer version of my favorite Chateau Parka and lounge sets in fabrics like cotton-cashmere and velour, I knew I had to try them. (And I figured I’d throw in a couple of party-ready tops and cozy sweaters while I was at it…I mean…these sale prices are good, you guys.) And, true to form, J. Crew did not disappoint–the hardest part is picking what to to keep.

The Coat You Have to Try

I recently tried on a bunch of J. Crew Coats, and this one is the warmest. If you want a warm puffer that’s also cute…this. It has a ton of pockets for everything you need (I find myself going without a bag more and more often these days), a sherpa-lined removable hood, and thumbholes in the cuffs, plus it’s made with eco-friendly PrimaLoft, meaning each one keeps 15 plastic bottles out of oceans and landfills. (And they make one for little girls too–I die.)

Comfy Jogger Sets

1. Cotton-Cashmere

This set is crazy comfortable. The cotton-cashmere blend is soft and thick and feels pretty much amazing on your skin. I sized up to a medium in the bottoms and probably should have stuck with a small–they were just a bit too oversized. The cream has since sold out, but I’m kind of dying over that beautiful turquoise color and, of course, the grey.

2. Waffle-Knit

This set is SO comfortable. Made out of a heavyweight cotton, this waffle-knit isn’t too thin–it’s like a lighter sweatshirt material that’s perfect for layering (and I like having the extra thickness for bum coverage). This set would be perfect with an oversized denim jacket and sneakers for running errands in warmer weather, but I’ll be layering it under that puffer and some winter boots for now. (Of course, it’s also perfect on its own for days at home.) I stuck with my typical size for J. Crew bottoms and they were perfect (some reviewers said they ran large but I prefer them a little larger).

3. Velour

You know that cheap-feeling velour that’s scratchy and stiff on the inside? This isn’t that. It’s super-soft and cozy…and I catch myself petting the sides of my legs when I’m wearing it (is that weird?). There are pockets on the sides of the hoodie too! I love the “happy” pink color, but that grey and navy are gorgeous as well. (The size small was perfect in both top and bottom–exactly as the size chart suggests.)

Party-Ready Tops

1. This Soft & Cozy Flannel Shirt

The perfect layering piece for winter! The fabric is double-brushed so it’s super-soft and cozy. It’s great on its own, but I love layering it under a blazer or sweater (see below).

2. This Tie-Neck Blouse

This is just a fun top to wear. Of course, the tie can be tied in a bow, but I kind of like it hanging down like a scarf a la Steven Tyler style. It comes with a cami underneath since it is slightly sheer, and although you can’t really tell in these pics, the dots really are rainbow-colored and more vibrant in person.

3. Ruffle-Trim Top

LOVE this top. The sheer fabric with dots is just really pretty, and I love the way it looks as it moves. It’s lined in the front and back (not a separate cami,) and I wanted to wear it with a regular bra here to show you guys that you don’t have to wear a strapless if you’re not feeling it–a pretty bralette would work too. (It also comes in a gorgeous nude color!)

4. Sequins…Always Sequins

You know I can’t not try the sequins. This top is quality–it isn’t scratchy, it drapes nicely and the straps are adjustable for the perfect fit. I’m wearing a small here but an xs would work as well since it’s long. I think it would look really cute layered over their tissue turtleneck and, of course, under their going-out blazer.

Cozy Sweaters

1. Cable-Knit Pointelle Sweater

This is such a fun sweater. It’s really warm and cozy, and the open detail kept it from being too hot–I wore a nude cami underneath so it wouldn’t show through. I read it ran big, so I sized down to an xxs and it’s perfect. Love it. (It comes in a bunch of colors to choose from.)

2. Waffle Crewneck in Supersoft Yarn

This is that same supersoft yarn we all love, but in a more relaxed, open-neck fit. They call it a sweater-shirt since it’s like wearing a cozy sweatshirt made out of sweater material. It does run big, so I sized down to an xs and it was perfect–I love that I can wear it slightly off the shoulder and there are a bunch of fun colors to choose from.
