Y’all, Madewell is having a Buy More, Save More sale today & tomorrow only (20% off $100+ or 30% off $200+ with code HOWFUN,) and it is worth it. Madewell used to be my staple. Cotton button-down, denim skirt, a pair of sneaks…my spring wardrobe was complete.
But, after a few misses, Madewell and I sort of drifted away, like BFFs in High School that defriend each other on Facebook by senior year of college. Now we’re both adults (OK, maybe Madewell is), so I decided to pick up the phone and see if the spark was still there (just go with the metaphor here).
Plus, Madewell’s new spring arrivals were literally too amazing to resist. Here are five outfits I’m loving…
Outfit 1: Denim Skirt + Drapey Button-Down + Chain Link Necklace
I had a denim, bedazzled-on-the-butt, skirt that I wore the heck out of in high school & college. I loved that questionable article of clothing. This Rigid Denim Straight Mini Skirt: Destructed Edition reminds me of that skirt, but with thankfully less attention on my derrière. I found my regular size 30 fit perfectly, although I might cut some of the looser threads on the side to clean up the look. If the destructed jean skirt isn’t your thing, check out this skirt. I paired it with the Central Drapey Shirt (TTS, L) and it is the perfect weight for spring/summer. Don’t tempt me with a slouchy button-up, it’s my kryptonite. I completed the look with the Convertible Medium Paperweight Chain Necklace and Arizona Waterproof Birkenstocks (TTS, 8) that I have been living in since recently.
Outfit 2: Denim Skirt + Tee Shirt + Hoodie + Sneakers
Next I paired the same denim mini skirt with a tucked-in Eastover Pocket Tee (TTS, Large). The material of this tee is Poly/elastane, which makes it a stretchier tee. Let’s just say I was expecting cotton, so this was a surprise, but not entirely unwelcome. I finished off the look with the Convertible Medium Paperweight Chain Necklace and Kickoff Trainer Sneakers in Leather and Spot Mix Calf Hair (TTS, 8) for a sporty, relaxed vibe from a decidedly unsporty, unrelaxed human.
I’ve also been on the hunt for a sweatshirt that doesn’t leave me feeling disheveled or like I just rolled out of bed for a weekend High School Swim Meet (very specific reference) and the MWL Airyterry Hoodie Sweatshirt (TTS, Large) does just that. This Hoodie Sweatshirt is breathable, lightweight, and comes in a slew of colors, but I was feeling this Heather Light Grey for spring.
Outfit 3: Shorts + Striped Tee + Sneakers
The last time I wore a striped tee was, erm, never. I was prepared to hate Madewell’s Whisper Cotton Rib-Crewneck Tee in Myrtle Stripe (TTS, Large), but I actually found myself really liking it. The stripes are flattering (perhaps because of the spacing) and I love this, what my friend Hallie calls, the spicy-brown mustard palate. I paired it with Madewell’s Relaxed Military Shorts. They’re relaxed all right…a little too relaxed. I don’t know what’s going on with my size, but I need to size down to a 29 in these shorts (similar issue with pants later). I adore the Antique Gold color though. I finished the outfit with the Kickoff Trainer Sneakers and the chain-link necklace that I see getting a ton of use.
Outfit 4: Shorts + White Blouse + Birkenstocks
This Square-Neck Pleat-Sleeve Top (TTS, Large) makes me feel a little too Bridgerton, and not like sitting across from the Duke of Hastings while he seductively licks a spoon HOW DID SPOONS BECOME SO HOT. It’s not that this top is bad, it’s just…voluminous. And, with a 9-month-old, I am going to end up showing too much of the family estate if you catch my drift. Plus the white? I am asking for trouble.
Outfit 5: Paperbag Pants + Sheer Sleeve Top + Birkenstocks
Another episode of “Meredith doesn’t know her size.” I dig these Ripstop Pull-On Paperbag Pants, but I should have sized down to a Medium instead of a Large. The waistline is so fun though and perfect for tucking in tops, like this Sheer Sleeve Knit Top (TTS, L). The sheerness is basically ventilation for your armpits. Truly you couldn’t ask for more living in a southern state.
The Madewell Buy More, Save More event is a great opportunity to refresh your spring/summer wardrobe with fresh colors, silhouettes, and new sneakers, because truly, can one ever have too many sweet kicks? Remember, use code HOWFUN at checkout.
