skirts & sneakers.
I’m not quite sure when sneakers made their comeback, but let me tell you — whoever is responsible for bringing this trend back, THANK YOU! This fall’s biggest fashion besties are skirts + a great pair of sneakers. Everywhere I go lately, I see great skirts, and the first thing I think to pair them with is a funky, and oftentimes, fresh pair of sneakers. To me, it’s the perfect mix of cute and comfortable.
TBH, this fall I have added at least five skirts and four pairs of sneaks to my wardrobe, and I’m not mad about it. If you follow my Instagram stories, you’ve likely seen my rotation of this combo a ton. I’m hoping that this trend lasts for many seasons to come because I love being able to strut around in shoes that won’t have my tootsies howling within an hour. Needless to say, I’m pretty sure the bond between these two pieces will stand the test of time.
BFFs: Skirts + Sneakers 4Eva
I love this trend so much, that I’ve worn a version of it every. single. day. for the past week. The combos are endless: you can dress down a fancier skirt with a pair of sporty tennis shoes or glam it up with a pair of gold sneakers.
There are so many great skirt options right now too. Growing up I always wanted to rock the skirt trend, but could never find one that fit well. This season turned over a new leaf for the skirt game. I even bought my first-EVER corduroy skirt and instantly fell in love.
Here are some of my favorite skirt and sneaker combos I’ve been rocking lately…
Outfit 1: Polka Dot Skirt + White V-Neck + Gold Sneakers
I am a sucker for a good polka dot skirt, and this one is super-lightweight and very breathable. I found it on super sale while at Nordstrom Rack and have it in my regular rotation for both work and weekend wear. I know you can’t see my sneaks in this picture, but I was wearing a gold pair of tennis shoes from Kenneth Cole (I took a quick picture and put it below for you to get a better look). They are so comfy you will last through an entire day of activities.
Outfit 2: Graphic Tee + Terracotta Block Skirt + White Sneaks
Right now graphic tees are super in, and TBH I haven’t found one that has worked for me yet. But when my mom left this top behind after she visited me, I felt like it gave me a similar vibe to the graphic tee trend right now. What I love about the skirt is that it is super-stretchy, which is always convenient if you are someone like me who tends to fluctuate between two sizes. My sneaks are oldies but goodies, and are the from the Human Race Pharrell Williams sneakers that came out a few seasons ago. They are like walking on clouds, and you can still buy the style in a variety of different colors.

Outfit 3: Stripes + Converse
Okay, okay, okay. I know this isn’t a skirt, but how cute are these converse paired with what could look like a skirt if paired with an oversized white sweater over it. I’d never been a huge fan of Converse, and in fact the white platforms are the very first pair I have ever owned. I bought them at the most recent N-Sale! What I love about these sneaks is that they are a platform and have gold detailing to make them pop. On a side note, if you buy these, size down; I typically wear an 8.5 and these are a 7.5.
Outfit 4: Corduroy Skirt + A White Sweater
This last skirt is super hot off the press and just arrived on my doorstep a week ago. Let me tell you, it’s fulfilling my childhood dreams! I love the texture and the fit so much, and the icing on the cake is that it has pockets. I haven’t quite landed on what sneaker to pair with it, so I am leaving it up to you all to give me suggestions! Should I go with a more graphic-style sneaker (ie. lots of color) or keep it simple with the tried and true converse? LMK in the comments!
After writing this post, I have started to realize that I am a bit of a sneakerhead and am a newly converted skirt gal. I have quite a few other skirts and sneaks that I’ve recently bought, and I’m looking to add an animal print skirt and a pleather one to my collection!
