The week after Christmas is rough. WINTER SLUMP, ANYONE? *lays head down on desk and silently sheds a tear* I had so much energy and creativity flowing before the holidays and now…nope.
So I was packing for our trip to MD a couple of weeks ago and I literally just started throwing shit into the suitcase, because I realized a) I didn’t have the time to plan out outfits and b) I had no ideas. At all. So shiz I threw…into the big ol’ communal family suitcase. I crossed my fingers that when we arrived, I’d realize that I had actually been super inspired and included stuff that could totally work together. Such a good plan.
Well, I kind of did…and I kind of didn’t.
I found that I had forgotten to pack enough clothes, so there was that. Also, I didn’t necessarily consider the weather up North. Hello, Cams. You aren’t in South Carolina anymore. I mean, I went as far as throwing a coat and pair of boots in the mix, but super warm socks? No. A hat? Nope. Gloves?? That’s a negative.
(…and to think, I used to be a well-seasoned Northerner. hmm.)
Anyways. All of that just to say, I guess sometimes ya just gotta throw stuff together and hope that it looks okay…especially when you’re fresh out of Winter outfit spunk (like moi). I ended up finding a now favorite outfit – one that I know I’ll be wearing at least a few more times before the Spring.
outfit details
sweater: Joe Fresh Turtleneck Sweater – past season, but yay!…their Knit Turtleneck is very similar and comes in a few different colors. (I am wearing a size XS for reference, but not exactly sure how any of their other sweaters fit)
jeans: BP. boyfriend jeans, no longer on site – these SP Destroyed BF jeans are similar ororor this pair of Plaid Lined GF Jeans is AMAZING. They are much more wearable during the winter, too. (says they run small, so if you definitely like them more slouchy, go up a size)
shoes: Who What Wear Angelique Microsuede Quarter Strap Pumps – love them…and they are amazing with jeans. They make any outfit more attractive and fun. (wearing 9.5, but I should have gone up a half size) Nine West has a similar pair, as well, if you can’t find your size.
lip color: Tarte’s Frenemy (burgundy) – I don’t usually do a bold lip color like this one, but S sent it to me…so I gave it a go. It has become my best friend this season, when trying to make an outfit a bit more interesting.

I bought this exact sweater last year from Joe Fresh and I totally forgot about it! That shows you how badly I need to clean out my closet!!!
Thank you for reminding me I still have it. Now all I have to do is hunt down your shoes and I will have this exact outfit duplicated. It looks great!!! Awesome post!
I little too much swearing for me on this post. No thanks.
I love a mama who isn’t afraid to swear! Power to women who use words! ALL the words!
The misuse of the word “literally” I find much more offensive than the swearing. But to each their own…
Yes I know that “literally” can technically be used to mean the opposite of what it use to mean. But still.
I live in the middle of no-where with no mall but a Target and Costco. There is a great oversized turtleneck sweater right now at Costco…just in case there are other moms like me living in the frontier.
For the record, I like the swearing. Yes please.
Wait, whoa am I blind?! I did not even notice the wearing! Or maybe I’m desensitized to it by now hahaha… I swear silently to myself all day, having a two little boys..ages three and five will do that to Mama!!! Carry on Cams, you are doing just fine!
I don’t love the swearing either. It’s not the end of the World, but honestly, I was a bit thrown when I read this post. Cam, you’re better than that…we all are.
Oh, and btw, I appreciate an expressive use of the “F word” when necessary, but we’re talking about clothes here, people!
What swearing? Only thing I didn’t like were the shoes. totally nms. If it is cold, I need ankles covered.
I love the sweater and jeans, but as a Marylander I can’t help but think your poor feet must be freezing!
I agree. The swearing seems forced and isn’t necessary or chic. The sweater and jeans combo is great, but the shoes are not going to be realistic past October.
Thank you for making affordable options look fabulous. Would not have guessed this outfit was so inexpensive. Very much appreciated.
