We get lots of questions about Nordstrom’s Moonlight Pajamas and J. Crew’s Dreamy Cotton Pajamas. Specifically, which one is better, and why? Since I have both, I thought I’d detail the differences for you guys.
(Spoiler alert, I love them both.)
Nordstrom’s Moonlight Pajamas
Nordstrom’s Moonlight PJs are my favorites between the two. They’re slightly softer (made of 95% modal & 5% spandex vs. J. Crew’s 95% cotton & 5% elastane) and not quite as thick. The waistband is thinner (as you can see in the pic below) and both the arms and legs run a bit longer. I actually have them in both the black and the pink stripe, and have washed both pairs countless times…with absolutely no problem of pilling or otherwise deteriorating. I personally prefer the longer arms, but the legs are a bit too long for my 5’4″ frame. (Not a deal-breaker for me, though, because I’m used to pants being too long!)

J. Crew’s Dreamy Cotton Pajama Set
Even though I like Nordstrom’s slightly more, these are amazing pajamas. They’re thicker so they’re a little more flattering on the bum area and the waistband has a bit more structure to it (and is a slightly lower rise). They run about a size smaller than Nordstrom’s (I’m wearing a small in both, but these are much more fitted), especially in the length of the arms and legs and in the chest area. (I’m loving that red and pink striped color, so I might actually size up to a medium for more of an oversized fit if I get those.) I’ve washed and dried these a ton with no problem, but they did shrink a bit the first time…you can see they’re not super-long on me even though some reviewers said they ran long. They’re just slightly more substantial than the Moonlight PJs.

Do you guys have favorite PJs? We’re always on the hunt for amazingly soft and comfy PJs! I actually just bought matching PJs for the ENTIRE family from Old Navy…they’re not as good as the ones above, but they’re soft, warm, and fun to wear together!
XOXO,

Oh hey, this one’s for the Pinners…

I use to always buy the JCrew Dreamy Cotton PJs when they went on sale but this year I picked up PJs from Target. The Stars and Above set is so soft. The pants are a little long for me (I’m 5’6″ so they would work for taller women). I’m slowing replacing my JCrew sets with this brand.
Was going to say the same thing as above… stars above are really good for the price. They don’t wash as well as brands like Eberjey, but they hold up just as well as jcrew and Nordstrom brands. The leopard style in stores now is awesome in terms of sleeve length and waistband.
I have the j crew set and absolutely love. I have worn and washed for over a year and they still look great. I just grabbed a pair for myself and as gifts when they were on sale!
I came here just to plug the Target jammies from Stars Above too! I have a few sets, and they’re silky-feeling and affordable enough that I don’t mind buying multiple pairs. I love the sleep shirt and the long-sleeve + shorts combo.
I am a true Nordies girl but I have to say my moonlight jammies have been such a disappointment! I got them in a pale pink with a hot pink stripe which I love. I’ve had them for about 6 months now and they’re completely pilled up, and uncomfortably clingy. Yes the fabric is so soft but I can visibly see every single dimple and jiggle in them which is not great. I hope you love your JCrew jammies with time, they’re my favorite by far! I just wish they made more colors 🙂
