Being active has always been a major priority in my life. Of course life ebbs and flows, and there are seasons when my working out is more consistent than others, but for the last few months I have been in a groove.
And it. feels. amazing.
We have been visiting my husband’s hometown in sunny north county San Diego. If you’ve never traveled to this part of the country, let’s just say… they’re healthy. Humans (well, dogs too) are always out surfing, biking, running, walking, even scootering and rollerblading and unicycling.
We always feel so incredibly inspired when visiting, and the one major commonality I’ve noticed during this specific trip? Nearly every other person has Hoka sneakers on their feet.
As luck would have it, I literally just scooped up a pair from Zappos.
Hoka & FP Movement: The Activewear Giving Me Happy Vibes Right Now
As one Michigander would, I felt very impressed with myself for having my own brand new Hoka kicks along for the trip. With my hometown still under mounds of snow, I had been incredibly eager to take these for a spin outside…and now I felt just like one of the locals.
Zappos has become my latest obsession for all things athletic wear. Not only do they have a seriously impressive catalog of All The Shoes (plus a 30 Day Runlimited Guarantee program–take running shoes for a spin worry-free before deciding), but I recently discovered that they have such a fantastic selection of my favorite brand FP Movement. We’re talking about a real one-stop-shop, all with super-speedy free shipping when you sign up for their Zappos VIP program. And, it’s free to sign-up!
The Hoka Rincon 3 is an incredibly lightweight running shoe. Unlike a lot of other lightweight running sneakers, there’s still a good amount of cushioning involved, so your foot doesn’t feel every single rock and ridge as you move. I found these Hokas to be super true to size, and easy to pull on and lace up. They even stayed on my feet even when maneuvering through thick sand on the beach.
My favorite part? The color choices!
It almost made it difficult when I was trying to decide which pair of Hokas to get, so naturally, I put together a bunch of different running outfits in my mind to see which color combo I’d feel the most excited about lacing up each day.
There are a lot of glorious orange tones used throughout various Hoka sneakers right now (this other Hoka running sneaker designed for distance has some good subtle orange pops, and so does this Hoka sneaker designed for speed). That led me to grabbing a pair of FP Movement shorts I’ve seen and heard about everywhere in a similar matching hue.
The Way Home Shorts & More FP Movement Pieces I’m Digging
The Way Home Shorts are wildly popular and strongly recommended by nearly all gym-goers that I know. I’ve been wanting to try them since I first started hearing about them last year, but it always seems dreary to buy shorts when I know winter is looming.
I snatched them up in this amazing Tangerine and let me tell you…they make this pale girl look TAN. Major win. There’s a ton of other drool-worthy colors, too.
The Way Home Shorts have a built-in full coverage liner that is genius so you don’t have any worries about wardrobe malfunctions. There’s a sleek little mesh pocket in the back for a key, and the waistband is thick and holds in every little bit of my midsection in the most glorious of ways…I mean every bit. I find these shorts incredibly flattering (I’m already picking out more colors for summer).
Zappos is carrying one of my most-worn sports bras right now, FP Movement’s Good Karma Crop. The top doesn’t have cups or a technical bra liner, but it’s tight enough to keep me feeling held in for brisk walks and jogs. It’s also just a great summer layer.
To top it all off, I was super excited to find FP Movement’s Honey Dove Pullover mostly just because of the color options. When it arrived in the mail it became one of those pieces that was instantly better in real life than I even thought it would be.
The Honey Dove Pullover is well-made, very comfortable, and complete with thumb holes in the long sleeves to keep you warm on the windy days. This is a top I will be wearing constantly… and I mean constantly because I’ve thrown it on for the last 3 days in a row, it’s that good.
The entire outfit makes me so happy: it’s functional for my active lifestyle, it’s freaking cute with the pops of color that bring me joy, and the fact that I fit right in with the San Diego locals with my Hoka kicks? Well, that’s just a freaking bonus.
Fit Notes: I’m wearing a medium in both the shorts and pullover, and I always grab a M/L in the crop!
