Daily walks are keeping me sane, healthy and rejuvenated right now, friends. I wasn’t always a daily walk person, but now I cherish them.
I’ve been popping on headphones and listening to a podcast (yes, probably a true crime one…lmk your recs) and then hitting the pavement. I go out whatever the weather (or the moments of slightly-better-weather) allows. So layering up is necessary.
Gap has the coziest, prettiest athletic and outerwear to layer up right now. They’ve got fleeces, they’ve got puffers, they’ve got brushed but not-too-thick leggings…not to mention the quality basics I’ve been wearing for years at this point.
P.S: Starting today, Gap is having a Flash Sale with 50% of your purchase with code TREAT and an extra 10% with code MORE!
This Afternoon Walk Outfit Hits All The Marks For Me
Sherpa Jacket + Puffer Vest + Brushed Jacket + Leggings
Layering is key this time of year, especially here in the Northwest where temps are chilly but mild. I definitely bundle up to start, then start shedding layers halfway through my walks.
For colder days, this fleece + puffer vest combo is great. Ooh…and these cozy chunky knit mittens keep my hands so toasty while looking cute to boot. I adore a layered look, and these work perfectly together. Bonus: they don’t make me feel like Ralphie’s little brother Randy in A Christmas Story. The vest is warm, but thinner and versatile.
Vest | Sherpa | Jacket | Leggings | Mittens
The ivory and cherrywood red combo here is also hitting all the marks for me, someone who typically sticks to mostly black workout wear. I am digging these pretty earthier colors.
Vest | Sherpa | Jacket | Leggings | Mittens
All of these Gap pieces work beautifully on their own, too. The sherpa jacket is cute and slightly cropped and current…perfect with the high-rise leggings. And so cozy.
And this vest. Totes loving it layered over the brushed jacket and leggings…either unzipped or zipped all the way up.
Vest | Sherpa | Jacket | Leggings
Last but not least, the Recycled Brushed Power Jacket + matching leggings are so fab (yes, the leggings have pockets, friends!) Only recently have I started buying more matching sets, and I’m really here for it. It looks so much more chic to me than mix and match.
Outfit Details
Relaxed Sherpa Jacket (s): So cozy and easy to wear…I love this layered with the vest on top or by itself. The fleece is soft and cozy but not that fabric that everything sticks to (pet peeve). It’s slightly boxy but not too oversized. It’s such a good find. It’s 30% recycled poly, too.
100% Recycled Relaxed Nylon Puffer Vest (s): This is a great puffer vest for layering. It looks so cool zipped up all the way AND it’s made from recycled materials. Score! Comes in a couple of other great colors.
GapFit Recycled Brushed Power Jacket (s): This brushed fabric of the jacket and leggings I have on is my new fav. The jacket is one of the few fitted athletic jackets I actually like, and I’ll be popping into this often for my walks. The hood is handy for my PNW weather, too.
High-Rise Recycled Brushed Power Leggings (s): Again, love the fabric. It’s not as thick as fleece-lined leggings but is thicker and softer than your typical workout legging. So comfy and offered in a variety of lengths. I had to tuck the Regular length under a bit, so should have opted for the Petite on my 5’4″ self. This color, too!!
Cable Knit Mittens: SO cozy and well-made! I love that the thumb is a tighter knit for a good fit.
Ankle Socks: Gap has the basics I always wind up going back to…like their ankle socks. They’re the perfect thickness, they’re comfy and they stay on. Their Breathe hipster undies are also my fav favs. As are their ribbed tanks and basic V neck tees. I keep trying others and always go back to the well-made, well-fitting, right-price-point pieces at Gap.
Are you also a daily walks person? I truly believe fresh air can heal the brain cells, y’all. Hoping you can find a few minutes to get out and treat yourself in this way, too, soon. Until next time…
xo,
L

Laura, you look just fabulous! Lovin your hair. I love this post but need outfit and footwear suggestions for taking walks in the friggin freezing temps of 9 degrees. Is it even possible to look that cute? Would love a post on this!!!
Thanks, Lori
Can’t get enough of true crime podcasts over here! I just finished “Unraveled” , Season 2 – The Stalker’s Web about cyberstalking. Mind. Blown. Love Crime Junkie, Dateline (of course), Murder Squad, Anatomy of Murder, and Generation Why.
