I was eyeing up Hanro’s Allure Bra Camisole for months — actually, probably more like years — before I bought it.

I knew Hanro’s pieces were seriously high quality because I’d stolen borrowed a seamless cami (100% cotton!) from Shana back when I was in college (early aughts) that I wore over and over and over again. (I would’ve never spent more than, like, $20 on a top back then.)

And that cami? I still wear it today.

Yup, the exact same one.

It’s years old — I literally don’t even want to know the exact number — and I still wear it all the time.

Aside from the tiny hole at the bottom, it still looks newer than most of my other tank tops. (You know, the cheap ones you wash once and then they look like you’ve had them for years immediately after.) I mean, at this point, price-per-wear for that cami is like 5 cents.

As some quick background, Hanro describes its pieces as “luxury on the skin,” and it’s not wrong. Hanro started out in 1884 in Switzerland and has always focused on high-quality, natural fibers since the beginning.

Closet MVP: Hanro’s Allure Bra Camisole

Which brings me back to Hanro’s Allure camisole with a built-in bra. The one I’d been eyeing up for forever but didn’t want to shell out $98 for. That top has now become the staple piece of my wardrobe — the one around which most of my outfits revolve. It’s my problem-solving undergarment/bra/base layer that I literally wear on a daily basis.

And at $98, it’s decidedly not cheap. But as my older, wiser self would tell my younger college self, it’s 100% worth it.

I now own FIVE of these tank tops, in multiple colors. It’s that good.

How Does The Hanro Allure Bra Cami Fit?

Unlike typical small, medium, large sizing, the Allure cami goes by bra size. For someone who has a hard time finding the right fit (raises hand), this makes a HUGE difference. I typically wear a 32D, and the 34C was perfect. The adjustable straps help to get the perfect fit and the molded cups with built-in underwire gives support. (Unfortunately, there’s currently no cup size D or higher yet, which means sizing isn’t as inclusive as we’d like.)

Is the Hanro Allure Bra Cami Comfortable?

The Hanro cami is incredibly comfortable, especially since it removes the necessity to wear multiple layers. The bra portion doesn’t pinch on the sides, and the cami adds an extra layer of warmth without adding bulk. So, instead of layering a tank over a bra under my sweaters, I just wear the bra cami. I don’t have to deal with multiple straps or having to tuck in excess fabric, and I still get that extra layer of warmth in cold weather.

I wear it almost daily in the winter… It’s just my typical base layer for any outfit. And the updated version (at Nordstrom) is tagless, which makes it incredibly smooth against skin.

How Do You Wash the Hanro Allure Bra Cami?

Obviously, this is an important question — especially for busy moms. The instructions do say to hand-wash, but if you’ve been here for awhile, you know I don’t hand-wash anything. I just can’t commit to the extra time. (I don’t even use one of those garment bags to wash my bras in, although I probably should.) Instead, I throw these into the wash with my other clothes and just hang to dry. I’ve had zero problems and have washed them multiple times this way.

The Hanro Allure Bra Cami Is A Problem-Solver

Because this cami is more supportive than the typical built-in shelf bra top, I’ll often wear it instead of a bra. I don’t have a spillage problem with this top (my girls are two different sizes, so that’s often a problem of mine), and it creates a smooth layer underneath my shirts and sweaters.

1. Under Tricky Necklines

The best part of the Hanro cami is that it solves the problem of tricky necklines! I wear it underneath off the shoulder tops and cutout sweaters. I love not having to resort to wearing a strapless bra, and because the strap is thin and delicate-looking, I don’t mind it showing.

2. Layered Under Cropped Sweaters

The nude color is the perfect solution to cropped sweaters as well. I have zero desire to flash any belly, but layering the nude cami underneath works so well with shorter tops. (I also wear the black under cropped black sweaters and cardigans — like in this post.)

3. Worn With Plunging Necklines

The Hanro Cami works really well with deep-V and plunging necklines. I would typically want to wear another layer under a sweater like this (mainly for the extra warmth), but it’s hard to find a tank or cami that wouldn’t show and disrupt that neckline. The Allure cami gives me a base layer to tuck in that stays hidden.

4. Under Cutout Tops

The nude also looks great under tops that typically would have to be layered over something else to prevent my bra from showing. Like the cool cutouts on the above top… I could’ve layered it over a navy tank, but the nude helps the details pop so much better.

5. Worn Alone

Although this cami is my typical base layer in the winter, it also works great on its own the rest of the year. Either layered under a cardigan or jacket like this…

What Is the Best Color To Buy In The Hanro Allure Bra Cami?

I started out with basic black but ultimately found the nude to be my most-worn color (I have two of them in case one is in the wash). I’ve since added navy and burgundy because those colors are easier to find on sale. I like having a number of shades to choose from, but if I were to suggest one, it would be nude or black.
