Trust me, I know it’s weird for some of us to be thinking about, talking about, and trying on shorts right now. Like with my recent swimsuit try-on, it’s not really where my head is at…but after a few years of missing out on the pieces I wanted to snap up, I forced myself to go there this early in the year.
AGOLDE Parker Vintage Cutoffs: The Best Jean Shorts For Women?
So if you want to skip the dreaded trying on and returning of one million pairs of jean shorts this year, start with these AGOLDE Parker shorts. I’ll get into the fit and wash details below but overall, these are totally worth the price tag, and I have been wearing mine for YEARS.

I am not someone who easily comes by a good pair of shorts. They always eluded me (and I had even written about what to wear to the beach if you don’t wear shorts. Yeah.) until a few years ago when I came across the AGOLDE Parker Shorts — they are good, and both Shana and I adore them.
They’re sustainable AND have great washes and that’s hard to find, but AGOLDE somehow nails it. These are long enough for my preference, not overly restrictive, and look like that worn-out pair of vintage cutoffs you loved in college, but without the pressure of having to do the cutoff trial and error yourself. Yesss.
The Parker shorts are also wide enough around the thigh opening for my more athletic gams. That plus the length makes them a special unicorn when it comes to cutoffs. They come in a few washes, too.

Ahhh last February in Mexico…when I was super tan haha. GOSH I NEED SUNSHINE right now (or a spray tan, for reals.) The black-washed pair are the cutoffs I’ve had for over a year now, and I lived in them during my warm weather times. I adore mine styled with a graphic tee or a striped tee (check out my latest round-up of those!) and my fav flats or sandals.

AGOLDE Jean Shorts In Swapmeet, Blue (& On 2 Different Peeps)
Uh, as you can see from this picture HERE taken last week, I need that sun. Heh. Lordy. The shorts still look good though! Even if we are all blinded by my legs. I know it’s nice to see the same pair of something on at least a couple of differently sized peeps, so Shana and I have got you. A few of us on the team have upcoming shorts posts, so stay tuned for even more on that front, too!
I tried on the AGOLDE Parker shorts recently with my lug sole loafers and was so pleasantly surprised! The blue pair is new for me…I’m excited for them to get a little more broken-in and look more like Shana’s below. The black pair are that way for me now and so, so good to pull on. There’s something comforting about a broken-in pair of good cutoffs because any other shorts just don’t really do it for me.

A Few More Views Of The AGOLDE Parker Cutoffs
You can see the same wash again on me here, with a side and back view to boot. Also, lighting is a real issue these days in my PNW home, so they look a bit bluer than they are IRL. The wash is just like that vintage pair of Levi’s I’ve had forever and adore and is more similar to Shana’s pic above. (Haha maybe rethinking my heavy black frames when it comes to summertime after this try-on. It leans a little crazy art teacher, but idk, I can also get down with that! Just add Chucks.)

These jean shorts are a rigid denim that will stretch a bit over time. I always size up in denim cutoffs because that is a piece I don’t want super fitted. That said, if you’re between sizes you might consider not sizing up because they’ll relax. It really depends on how you like your shorts to fit. The overall sizing, in my finding, runs true to size though.

The shorts look great on you, I prefer longer ones on me, though.
If you’re looking for something a little longer (like me!) take a look at the AG Nikki. My favorites.
Believe it or not, the American Eagle Next Level Midi Short is great and cheap. Some have a folded cuff at the bottom, but if you unfold it you get a nice raw hem. I buy a ton of them in white and wear them to the beach all summer.
