The word “surprised” most accurately describes my feelings about what I found in the 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. In a good way, though. While many of the things I initially loved and had on my wishlist weren’t available (I still ordered some), I was happy when I walked out of the store with pieces I could style all day. Ultimately, this sale (any shopping actually) is about getting the best for your money. I’m always thinking about cost-per-wear.

With that said, my biggest surprises were on the under-$100 side, other than a handful of higher-end pieces I could find at my store (the rest are on their way — what wasn’t canceled, of course).

Everyday-Chic Fall Outfit Inspo (Think: Jeans & Heels, Dresses & Sneakers): A Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try-On

If I could narrow down this year’s Anniversary Sale to a Top 5 (que dificil), I would say: the Topshop Ripped High-Waist Dad Jeans in black and blue (why hadn’t I tried them before?), the Dagne Dover Belt Bag (water-resistant!) I will not stop wearing EVER, these heeled Schutz Booties that seem to make every outfit, the comfiest and super-versatile joggers by Cinq A Sept, and this skirt and sweater set by Open Edit. Let’s see them all and some more.

1. Topshop Dad Jeans: So Nice I Bought Them Twice

I’d seen these dad jeans in past Anniversary sales but had never tried them…and OMG. It was instant love. I was hoping to try the Re/Done Stovepipe Jeans (now sold out) and the Joe’s Jeans High-Waist Flare Jeans, but none were at my store. I’m so glad these were. The vintage wash, the single rip, the straight leg and the fit are all perfection.

And of course, I had to get them in black too.

Sizing notes: Retailer sizing says to go up, which may be because of the 100% cotton denim. I loved the blue wash in my true size (26). They were a little tight at the beginning, but have since broken in a bit and I know they will continue to do so. On the other hand, the black wash in my true size was tiny so I did go a size up.

2. Pretty Tops To Wear W/ Topshop Dad Jeans

The Halogen Puff Sleeve Square Neck Sweater above surprised both my Nordstrom Shopper and I. The color attracted me (I’ve been looking for pieces in this color for a while now, and it’s not that easy,) so I had to try it. Lo and behold, I loved it! And for the price, I’ll happily keep it to wear for dates, chilly night outs and more.

Can we talk about this Good American wrap bodysuit? I see it working perfectly for the office with the snap closed or even a cami under (things hang low on me because I’m petite) but how about going all sexy? Oooh, love. I wear these nippies whenever I have a braless situation.

The amount of chocolate-colored pieces in the NSale has me all excited. It’s one of those colors I usually tell my clients “if you’re lucky to find it, it would be great” Well, it is here in many pieces including this gorgeous WAYF top.

3. All Dressed Up

I found quite a few midi skirts and dresses to fancy up with heels or heeled booties, or dress down with sneakers. Let’s see how fun, shall we?

A. Ruched Midi Skirts By Open Edit

Hands-down one of my favorite outfits for a steal. Open Edit is GIVING with this side slit ruched midi skirt and Dolman sleeve V-neck sweater. They’re both lightweight making them perfect for transitioning into fall and then layered up later. I wear these base shorts under to avoid any flashing, panty lines or see-through issues.

You’re wondering about those brown boots, aren’t you? Well, they have a comfortable block heel, come in black and white, and are by Sarto. Take into account my calves are on the thicker side, so they should fit looser on narrower legs.

Accumulating dressy outfits when you rarely leave the house doesn’t feel very fair, but these two transition easily into more casual looks with a pair of sneakers. Ready to run errands, hop over to the playground, go to school pick-up and more.

Then if a random dressy occasion occurs, swap out the sneakers to a heeled bootie, and you’re done. These Schutz boots are the one pair of boots I’m 100% keeping. They’re chic and have a walkable heel — what else could you want? There’s a black alternative too, but I love the freshness of light shoes.

B. Nordstrom Brand Dresses

I got these dresses for mi mami, please level all the comments and see if we can convince her to share how they look on her. The Open Edit Dress above has the perfect drape and shade of red. I love how it flares out to allow movement and comfort. It runs small though, I need to order a Medium.

Once again, Halogen captivated me with another piece: this neck-twist animal print dress. You can eat all the tacos in this and feel comfortable. Great for the office, dinner out, dancing and more.

C. A Silky Cinq A Sept Matching Set

 Top (XS) | Joggers (S) | Sandals | Bag

Cinq à Sept is a brand to pay attention to. Their whole focus is to create pieces that will go from day to night easily. Last year I got a dress and honestly I’d never spent that much on one, so I didn’t know if it was worth it. Almost a year later I have worn that dress numerous times for different occasions and have always felt fabulous. I get all the compliments on it too.

These Cinq à Sept Tous Joggers are the pants I never knew I needed. They’re made of sustainable, silk-like cupro. Take a look at how versatile they can be as the material and style flow easily from casual to dressy. The matching 100% silk camisole is a forever piece.

I’m 100% sure I’ll be wearing them more with flat sandals and sneakers, and I’m sure I’ll wear them with heeled booties or sandals for date nights, parties and more.

4. This Vince Cardigan Coat Works Over Everything

Me, in a cardigan? Las vacas están volando (Spanish saying close to “pigs are flying”). Maybe it was that I couldn’t get my hands on the Reiss Longline Coat. My store is the worst and had none of the cool coats. But this Vince Cardigan Coat made its way into my bag and now a few outfits.

Want stretchy and comfortable mid-rise jeans? These PAIGE jeans are pretty good. I forgot to take a bum pic, but they were great. I love how the slim fit goes easily over the booth without being a full straight fit. PS. The description says they are high-rise but look how low they fall compared to the other jeans in this post.

I had to try the Topshop jeans cuffed, and I love how they looked with my lug sole boots. The cardigan will make this outfit incredibly warm and ready for a chilly fall day.

5. rag & bone Alex Straight-Leg Jeans For The Win

A new rag & bone style for me, and one I’m officially obsessed with. They felt broken-in on the spot and give you a good bum. This is the wash in the Anniversary sale, however, I just ordered this darker wash (better for my colors) that is also on sale.

6. A Sneaker Moment: Retro-Style P448s

These make you taller!!!!!! Look at that wedge. All I have to say. Jk. These P448 Sneakers are retro-chic and will make you look amazing in yoga pants, jeans and more. The laces are meshy with a subtle glittery finish that is not too visible in the photos but it’s good in real life. You can always change them if you prefer something solid.

7. This Fitted Nordstrom Blazer 2 Ways

I have an issue with blazers. They cannot be straight or shapeless. They have to hit either above the widest part of my hips or below, but never at that exact spot or will make me look shorter and wider. This Nordstrom houndstooth blazer on my petite frame hit below my bum working as a short coat, and is also slightly nipped at the waist. If you’re taller though, it will be more of a regular length.

It’s perfect for the office but I love it over sexier going out outfits.
