Wedding season is upon us, friends, but unlike past years where it’s most common to get invites for celebrations in the months of June, September and October, this year’s wedding “season” is going to be All. Year. Long.
You may have already heard the statistics, but 2022 will have more weddings than any year past since the early 80s. As a wedding photographer for the last decade, I can assure you — that is a TON of weddings. If you want to know just how much is “a ton”: The Knot estimates 2.6 million weddings will take place in the U.S alone.
20 Pretty Spring Wedding Guest Dresses & Jumpsuits (From Garden To Ballroom)
I’ve spent more time at weddings than, well, doing anything else in life, so you can trust that I’ve got your back with this roundup of the best dresses for spring wedding celebrations (and even a few for those who dislike dresses, too). I kept in mind all kinds of events, from garden parties, to formal banquet gatherings, or even vows under the sun in an open field! I broke down our options into two categories: the first for those outdoor soirees, and the second for those more formal nuptials.
Spring Wedding Guest Dresses & Jumpsuits For Outdoor Gardens & Farms
Spring weddings are a fantastic time to wear floral and lighter colors, and since temperatures can range widely in the shoulder seasons, long sleeves or maxi lengths (maybe even both combined) are wonderful to consider. A heel would be fantastic for any of these outfits, but if you’re going to be outdoors, keep in mind that grass and rocks will most likely be present, and opting for a sandal or chunkier heel (even on a boot) could do wonders for lasting comfortably all the way until the end of the night.
This long sleeve dress is just bright enough to be cheery for warming weather, but is balanced out with long sleeves to keep it seasonally appropriate for springtime. It comes at a high price point, but this is a dress you could wear on repeat for multiple occasions. And the bright lip the model is rocking with the dress? Definitely a look to copy.
I love how light and flowy this jacquard-weave dress is, with a soft peachy pink hue that would look gorgeous at an orchard wedding. The shoe options would be endless, from a fun western boot to a strappy heel, or even a simple ballet flat.
This is such a fantastic plus-size option for weddings. The price point is unbeatable and there are four other colors/prints to choose from (this same print but in green is worth a look).
I like how this dress is just slightly funky. It’s creative and a little loud while still being romantic for a spring wedding. As a photographer I would immediately notice a guest in this and make it a goal to photograph the person wearing it with the wedding signature cocktail in hand. Bonus points if a wide brimmed hat was styled with it!
Another slip dress option, this time with a ruched drawstring detail at the bust. This one is also different in that it does not have a side slit, which is lovely for those who don’t find slits very comfortable.
This dress is stunning in every way, fit for an elegant garden celebration or even an indoor ballroom, thanks to the high neckline and the delicate detailing of the wrist cuffs and back keyhole opening. I would style it just like the model, with hair pulled back to allow the dress to really show off.
Because dresses just aren’t for everyone, or every event. If you’re looking to switch things up, I love how this jumpsuit allows you to wear pants, but it has the pretty ruffles on the shoulder straps and a waist wrap. The bust line is simple yet gorgeous, too.
A flowy dress fit for cool spring weddings, and it even has a few other pattern/color options if you like the style but want a different look. This dress is a great option if you’re pregnant but still concealing the news, or if you simply have no idea how big your growing belly will be at the time of the wedding and need a dress you can fit into no matter what!
Balancing a mini dress with long sleeves is not only super chic, but it’s the perfect look for a spring occasion. I especially love how the dress has a floral pattern in bold tones instead of the pastels that we typically see.
Spring Wedding Guest Dresses & Jumpsuits For Fairytale Ballrooms & Elegant Events
If the wedding you’re attending requires a bit more spiffying up, it’s a great idea to consider a longer dress, maybe one with more of a sheen, or even a full on suit if that’s your vibe. While all of these would be just as fabulous for an outdoor event (you can never be overdressed at a wedding, trust me) they’re perfect for a church or ballroom!
As you can see, the greens tones are still coming in hot for this year. This mini dress has an elastic drawstring waist and back tie closure which are both not only completely cute, but practical.
This might be the jumpsuit of dreams…but the stock seems to go quickly (also available in this glorious blue). It has a convertible design, meaning it can be styled up multiple different ways for a look that’s not only unique but most comfortable and flattering to you. It’s a size-inclusive jumpsuit, ranging from X-Small to 3X-Large, and the majority of the pieces from this brand are produced in Dakar, Senegal where the founder was born!
For the person who isn’t quite ready to embrace spring color, this black jumpsuit is another incredible versatile option. It’s a convertible style, like the one above, so you can switch up that one arm sleeve into a halter top, strapless look and more.
4. L’Academie Kaya Blazer & Prudence Trouser
I love this maxi dress for another flirty, flowy spring option! You can belt the waist and pull up the fabric just a smidge to create a ruching effect, which is also convenient if the dress is a bit too long on your frame.
The cap sleeves of this pleated maxi dress are divine, and even though the color has the word “winter” in it, this one is perfect for a spring wedding.
Oh man, this is a gorgeous dress fitted in the upper body, flowing out just slightly at the waist thanks to the high slit. There are back cutouts to add an extra flirty touch, and if you’re looking for a different color, there’s a few more options at the link, or go straight to Reformations site for even more options in this Gavin Dress!
This satin gown is a perfectly elegant choice for a black tie wedding, without having to wear, you know, all black. It’s modest with the long sleeves and maxi length, but thanks to the extra high slit, there’s still plenty of sass.
This is such a lovely under-$100 option that gives you the buzzy freshness of spring. It’s modest yet flowy and available up to size 20.
The dress description says it perfectly, “For brides, bridesmaids, and those attending their 17th wedding this year.” The Winslow Dress is a comfy wrap style available in multiple colors, even the prettiest shade of white in the event you’re actually a bride yourself who will be in need of a rehearsal dress!
