I’ve developed kind of a pattern this past year during quarantine. For days (or is it weeks?) at a time, I won’t wear any makeup at all, and then every once in a while I’ll go all out. (I mean, if I’m going to put on some makeup–let’s put on some makeup.) A full-on smokey eye, contouring, the works. I’ll put on a “fancy” outfit (aka not joggers or pj’s but almost always including jeans), do my hair, and find myself all dressed up with no place to go. Literally.
Casual Date Night Outfit: Comfy Jeans, Fancy Top & Cozy Jacket
So I’ll grab Zack, pour us some wine, turn a show on for the kids and we’ll have a quick date on our deck. Sometimes it’ll only last five minutes and sometimes we can stretch it out to an hour, but either way it’s always nice to dress up and feel somewhat normal in this anything-but-certain time. I can’t wait to get a babysitter and go back to a restaurant, but in the meantime there’s always wine on the deck.

Fancy Top: Vince Camuto Cold Shoulder Tie Neck
I can’t resist a good cold-shoulder top, and this one works year-round (and it’s 30% off right now!). The bow at the neck can be tied however you want (I like a pretty bow or a knot that leaves the ties hanging), and the blouson sleeves are perfectly on-trend. Add some fun statement earrings (these are 40% off!) and tuck the hem in or leave it out. I’ll be wearing this one well into spring with everything from these jeans to some colorful pants and of course, denim shorts come summer. (It’ll also be perfect for the holidays when we may actually get to leave our house–ooh, how cute would these sequin pants look with it??)
Cozy Jacket: BB Dakota Marled Knit Jacket
This jacket looks like a chic coat but feels like a big comfy sweatshirt. It’s perfect for when I want to look a little bit more put-together and dressed up but don’t want to feel like it. I hate when jackets are stiff and constricting, and this is anything but. I love the wide drapey collar and oversized patch pockets that are perfectly sized for my phone (or my hands when it’s cold) and the button details on the shoulders and wrists elevate the look even more. I’m wearing it with jeans and a fancy top here, but it could easily go over a spring dress without looking too heavy.

Date Night Outfit Details
jacket: BB Dakota Marled Knit Jacket (s) – I love this super-cozy and comfortable jacket…it looks like a chic coat but feels like an oversized sweatshirt.
jeans: MOTHER The Tomcat Ripped Crop Straight Leg Jeans (30–sized up two sizes!) – I found these to run small, but once I sized up they were perfectly slouchy and comfy…no break-in period necessary. Love the wash and distressing on these!
boots: Vagabond MYA Stretch Bootie – These boots have solved SO many problems for me! The sock boot shape is perfect to wear with everything from cropped jeans to dresses to flares…literally, they go with everything. The best part is that they’re actually comfortable to wear (with or without socks) because of the stretchy material and lower heel.
top: Vince Camuto Single Cold Shoulder Tie Neck Top (xs, small would have been better for the girls) 30% off and also in cream or a lovely bright pink!
earrings: Stella + Ruby Chiffon Petal Hoop Earrings – Stella + Ruby make the coolest, most unique earrings ever. I especially love the way their chiffon earrings look (like these hoops that are 40% off and come in multiple colors!).
wine glass: Luigi Bormioli Tentazioni Red Wine Glasses – LOVE these wine glasses.
And now, back to my pj’s and no makeup.
XOXO,
Scotti
Love the whole look! How are you doing? Sending healing thoughts and prayers to you! Xo!
