Heading to the Barbie movie this weekend? Same here. It’s all the pink-hued rage this week, and the outfits that we’re seeing strutting into the theaters are so. freaking. fun.

So, of course we had to put our own little collection together of looks that are seriously cute AND seriously comfortable. Because we are talking movies here after all. Comfort is our primary goal. Then Barbie-inspired cuteness. Just to clarify.

What To Wear To The Barbie Movie: 5 Comfy Outfit Ideas

And I mean comfy. I would not steer you wrong here — especially as someone who usually wears an acceptable form of boxer shorts or sweats + a hoodie to most movies. But I do love a theme and an excuse to go crazy with colors, so let’s play along!

Side note: I separated the outfit ideas in terms of comfort level, so choose how cozy you’re getting and go from there. You’ll see what I mean.

Here are some perfect shoes for theatergoing that I couldn’t help but include:

Depending on how Barbie-heavy you want your look to be, I found some adorable accessory picks (and peep the dog sweater…if your theater allows furry friends):

Level 1 Comfort: Pink Pajamas

I always think that wearing your pajamas in public is such a cool (and confidence-emitting) move, especially when it comes to the movies because, well, duh. We’re getting cozy up in here. Pair with some sneakers (or hell, go full-on slumber party vibe and wear some fluffy footwear) for an I-didn’t-forget-to-change-I-did-this-on-purpose look. And, of course, make your pajamas pink.

Level 2 Comfort: A Pink Lounge Set

One step — or even half step — up from PJs is a comfy lounge set. Comfortable, easy, and looks very put-together. And pink here is a must. (…OK, I won’t state this again. It’s obvious.) (Btw, the cargo shorts here are sold out, but the pants version is just as cool.)

Level 3 Comfort: A Soft Pink Dress

Keyword: soft. Slip on a breathable and effortless dress, and you just made movie night a tad fancier. Tone it down with a pair of sneakers or up with…these. Lol.

Level 4 Comfort: Lightweight Shorts + A Pink Top

Out (for movie wear): buttoned closures, tight waistbands, non-stretching material. In: flowy silhouettes, adjustable waistbands, lightweight material. Perfect shorts for this? These denim paperbag shorts. Kick back and relax with your popcorn, and don’t fuss about it.

Level 5 Comfort: Baggy Jeans + A Silky Pink Top

Baggy jeans are (arguably) the most comfy and non-serious of the trending styles these days. I love these Free People pants (Shana does too), especially dressed up with a fun top to offset the cargo/utility vibe. Silk tops are uuuuber-soft and comfy, so kind of perfect for a fun movie theme? I may start wearing them to all movies from now on, actually….
