You might not be feeling fall yet, but here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, it’s already happening.
Fall is my second-favorite season after summer (so naturally I live in one of the coldest places in the country), and I love all the Cozy-Comfy Vibes that come with it. Soft sweaters, cozy scarves, crackling fires and falling leaves…I’m here for it all.
I love opening my sweater bin every fall once the weather turns and busting out the hats, mittens and scarves I put away for the summer. Cashmere, cable knits, all things soft and cozy…
Comfy-Cozy Vibes: 4 Fall Essentials From Saks OFF 5TH
Now is actually a great time to stock up on cozy sweaters and scarves because Saks OFF 5TH is currently having its Cold-Weather Category Event now through 9/20: an extra 30% off Saks Fifth Avenue cashmere, coats and other cold-weather accessories (excluding clearance and select brands). There are some seriously good deals happening right now — like every single thing I’m wearing below.
But before I get to all the texture, I have to talk about these Jonathan Simkhai Sloane High Rise jeans — rarely has a pair fit me so well right out of the box. From the higher rise that holds everything in, to the length (cropped, but not too short), to the small amount of distressing that adds just a little texture instead of actual holes, these jeans are a pleasant surprise. (TBH, I hadn’t heard of Jonathan Simkhai before, but I’m kind of loving all of its denim styles at Saks OFF 5TH.)
All The Texture For Fall: Cable Knits, Oversized Scarves, Suede Boots & Quilted Bags
Since Saks OFF 5TH is having such a great sale on cold-weather fashion, I thought I’d round up some of my favorite fall essentials: the best cable-knit sweaters, oversized scarves, suede boots and quilted bags.
1. Cable-Knit Sweaters
I don’t know about you, but one of the first things that come to mind when I think fall is cable-knit sweaters. Comfy, cozy, cable knit. This sweater from Vince is insanely warm AND soft…not scratchy in any way. I love the way the turtleneck lies perfectly (it doesn’t need to be folded) without feeling like a neck brace. (And this one is 57% off…down to $250 from $595. If you love Vince but don’t love the price, Saks OFF 5TH is the place to go.)
2. Oversized Scarves
I LOVE oversized scarves. I especially love the ones that can be used multiple ways: wrapped around the neck, draped over the shoulders, or worn over the lap as a blanket. This ribbed scarf from Marcus Adler is SO incredibly soft — it’s exactly like the one I have from Free People but for about half the price. 😍 I love this cinnamon color, but it also comes in a pretty olive green, lilac and sunny yellow (all for under $30!).
3. Suede Booties
Nothing says fall like suede boots, am I right? My favorite thing about these Schutz Point-Toe Suede Ankle Boots is the slouchy shaft — they go with everything from cropped jeans to dresses and skirts to full-length denim. And I thought they’d be really uncomfortable because of the heel (but I loved the design, so I tried them anyway), but I was pleasantly surprised that they weren’t. I actually wore them for hours after taking these photos. They run true to size for Schutz, which in general run small. I’m wearing an 8.5 here, and I’m pretty much always an 8 in all other boots.
4. Quilted Bags
OMG, the detail on this Valentino bag, you guys! I love, love, love this one. The pretty chain just looks so much nicer than leather straps, IMO — like jewelry. And the color is spot-on. Not too light for fall, but still a unique neutral that goes with everything. The size is also perfect — big enough to hold my wallet, glasses, phone, etc., but small enough to bring on date nights and girls night out (on the rare occasion I get to have those). 😆
And I tried to resist saying it, but…Happy Fall, Y’all!
