You guys, these are the best pair of statement boots. A pair that brings me joy every single time I put them on. A pair that literally elicited compliments from complete strangers passing us on the street — in Philly. (I mean, that’s much more impressive than in the Midwest, am I right??)
2 Cozy Outfits Ft. Knee-High Gold Boots: Prepare For Compliments
These Sam Edelman boots work with dresses and jeans, and they’re tall enough to wear with thick, warm, wool socks (a must for those Midwest winters). The heel is short enough to walk in comfortably (as I found out on the streets of Philly), and they add a little je ne sais quois to any outfit I pair them with. (They also happen to be 30% off right now — thank you, early Black Friday sales!) Here are two ways I’m wearing them.
1. Gold Boots With…A Sweater Dress: Comfy + Stylish
The obvious choice to pair with any tall boots right now is a midi dress — especially a cozy long-sleeve sweater dress like this one. It literally feels like wearing a blanket, but the figure-grazing fit keeps it from looking frumpy.
I wore this dress on the plane to Philadelphia, and it’s the most comfortable-but-stylish travel outfit ever. (It also comes in black…which is currently on its way to me because I love this dress that much.)
The fit of this cream sweater dress from Nordstrom is slim enough to show off curves but loose enough that a big dinner can fit comfortably underneath. (This will obviously be my Thanksgiving outfit this year.)
The side slit makes for easy movement and adds a slightly sexy little flash of skin. (But full disclosure, I’ve also added thermal leggings underneath for extra warmth — the dress and boots hide most of them.)
2. Gold Boots With…Cropped Jeans + A Cashmere Sweater: A Li’l Unexpected
I mean, they fit over leggings and skinny jeans, obviously, but wearing them underneath a slightly looser pair of denim is definitely a more modern look. These boots elevate a basic jeans-and-a-sweater outfit because they’re somewhat unexpected.
These MOTHER The Ditcher cropped straight-leg jeans are currently my favorite pair of denim — and I just went through my closet and tried on almost every pair I own. These came out the winners.
Slightly loose and perfectly slouchy without being baggy, the length (27 inches) is perfect for my 5’4″ frame without having to hem them. (These high-waisted MOTHER jeans are similar with a slightly longer inseam if you’re taller than me!)
I also have to mention this faux-leather bucket bag by ALDO; I’ve been using it nonstop since I got it. I love the cream color that goes with everything, and the gold detail is so, so good — just enough to match the boots without being too matchy-matchy.
It’s also big enough to hold everything I need (wallet, phone, glasses — which I now have to carry with me everywhere — lip gloss, etc.), but it’s small enough to wear as a crossbody that doesn’t weigh me down. The price point is perfect for a gift (and it also comes in black)!
I can’t say enough about this Vince cashmere sweater, either. I bought one last spring and was actually happy when the weather got cold enough to wear it. It’s soft, comfortable and super-warm, and I love the funnel neckline!
I was all too happy to wear Shana’s navy one while I was in Philly. I’m wearing a small here, which drapes perfectly around my hips, and the one I have at home is a medium, which is just slightly more oversized. Both sizes work!
