Gang, Athleta’s Aprés Ski Joggers have been such a win this winter. They’re warm, suuuuuper-comfortable, and can be…pretty darn chic?
I also like how the front is sporty (unapologetically vibes I hate to be cold), yet the rear view is good! I don’t want to bore you with the details, but you can see the full 360 view in my article, “My Athleta Try-On Was ‘Meh’…Except For These Two Standout Pieces.”
Spoiler: These joggers are definitely one of the standout pieces. (P.S. They’re on sale.)
Styling Athleta’s Aprés Ski Joggers Into Real Outfits: 6 Cozy Winter Looks
These down-alternative joggers have been pretty epic when waking up in a freezing-cold house (I like it in the low 60s when I sleep), and they’re just the thing for school drop-off and pickup too. I love to wear them for walks outside (especially in cold Northern Vermont), but I’ve also found that these cozy joggers can be styled into real outfits too.
And yup: They machine-wash and tumble dry really, really well.
Here are a few ways I’ve been wearing them this winter….
1. With A Matching(ish) Sweatshirt + Mou Boots
sweatshirt (S) – this fleece would also be cute | joggers (small, petite) | boots | hat
This is probably the outfit I wear the most — oh, haha, I’m actually wearing it now. We’ll call this the “Blogger Works From Home” outfit. And while the cool-kid Vermonters wear their Mou boots out of the house, I need to pick up a suede spray before I do that. (Also the cool-kid Vermonters are wearing this darker, striped pair, which hides dirt better).
Anyway, I do love a monochromatic vibe, especially for loungewear. It just instantly elevates the look (and I always feel a little more put-together).
2. With Layered Tees, Mini UGG Boots & A Great Coat
“Shut Up and Dance” tee (S) | long-sleeve tee (S) | joggers (small, petite) | UGGs | bag
I’ve been wearing layered tees since 1995, and by now it’s an “if it aint’ broke…” situation. I’ll never not appreciate a good outfit with classic UGG boots, but I will admit that a cute bag helps. Another solid move? A statement coat. The key is to find a winter coat that elevates…yet still has a casual vibe.
My wool cocoon coat from BA&SH is a good example:
jacket (S) | “Shut Up and Dance” tee (S) | long-sleeve tee (S) | joggers (small, petite) | UGGs | bag
It’s luxe and deliciously elevated, but has a slouchiness that keeps it firmly rooted in the casual category. A tailored wool coat would NOT work with this outfit — too sharp, not enough casual balance.
My SAM. Denver sherpa jacket, however, is great:
jacket (S) | “Shut Up and Dance” tee (S) | long-sleeve tee (S) | joggers (small, petite) | UGGs | bag
The sherpa definitely skews luxe, but the sporty shape grounds it (and matches the vibe of the pants).
3. With A Cashmere Sweater + GANNI Platform Chelsea Boots
cashmere turtleneck (S) | joggers (small, petite) | boots | bag
It’s funny, I wasn’t sure these lug-sole Chelsea boots would actually work with joggers…but there is something about these specific down joggers that screams REAL PANTS, which makes a big difference.
The vibe is almost equestrian, but modern equestrian, and I like it.
When adding a coat to this look, I decided to lean into the sporty vibe and go with a short puffer jacket from Halfdays.

4. With A Matching Hat & Sweater (AKA How To Add Color)
fleece (S) | hat | joggers (small, petite) | sneakers | bag
While there’s no doubt that an all monochromatic look is dead chic, I can add in some supersaturated color by tweaking the monochromatic vibes. In this case, I went for neutral shoes (LOVE my Nobull sneakers), then matched my Halfdays ribbed beanie and fleece quarter-zip in the same deep green.
Note: the hat-and-sweater matching doesn’t have to be exact for this look to work, just…close-ish.
5. With High-Tops + Cropped Sweaters
similar sweater | joggers (small, petite) | high-tops | similar bag
I forget how useful high-top sneakers are in the winter! (This pair, however, runs big — I need to exchange these for a size down.) That said, I can’t wait to wear these adidas sneaks out. Everything in this outfit works because it’s a good balance of sporty-luxe pieces: a shorter, boxier sweater echos the cool vibe of the high-tops, and even the leather bag is in a duffle shape. Good stuff.
Because this outfit is so sporty already, I could wear literally any of the coats featured above. For fun, let’s double down on the sporty thing and go with this bananas-bright Halfdays puffer:
jacket (S) | similar sweater | joggers (small, petite) | high-tops | similar bag
Kinda fun how these Athleta joggers — which I originally just pictured wearing with other subdued, soft tones — can stand up to bold colors. Partly because of the vibe (the sporty pieces all work together), and partly due to the delicious texture of the pants.
6. With All The Wool & Layers For A 21-Below Day
jacket (S) | sweater (S) | joggers (small, petite) | boots | hat
I’m literally wearing Athleta’s fleece-lined leggings under the joggers, this base-layer top from Halfdays, wool socks, as well as everything you see here. And yup — I’m very warm. The only thing NOT warm were my poor lungs (gosh, breathing outside when it’s THAT cold burrrns).
OK, so that’s it! My go-to outfits with Athleta’s Aprés Ski Joggers. Love these things, gang. Highly recommend.
Aaaaaand let’s do one more close up of my static-y hair situation:
Good grief.
