Thank you to Nordstrom & ShopStyle Collective for sponsoring this post.
I love shopping for fall and winter coats, but every spring I find myself reaching for my husband’s jackets–especially before it really warms up enough to wear a light denim jacket. I’m always excited for spring tops and spring dresses and even spring shoes, but when it comes to jackets I have nothing but heavy puffers and thick fall coats…until this year, friends.
Current Outfit-Maker: This Quilted Jacket
Since we’re spending so much more time outside right now, I decided that this year I need my own jacket. Something that has that same slouchy, slightly oversized vibe that I love about Zack’s jackets with the wear-with-everything versatility of a denim jacket. Something warm and comfy that can transition easily from the end of winter to spring weather. A jacket I can layer over thick sweaters or fun little spring tops. And I found one that’s just perfect. (Oh, and it’s under $200.)
Like a favorite lightweight denim jacket, this Free People Quilted Jacket goes with everything, but I can wear it right now while the temps are cooler. It’s nice and heavy so it really does add some warmth when I need it — but I know I’ll be wearing this one long after the cold weather is over. I love it with my MOTHER Tomcat Jeans and a bodysuit that shows off the waistband now (I add a scarf when it gets really cold), and I’m thinking when it gets warmer it would look awesome with cut-offs and a tank or graphic tee…or over a flirty little dress…ooh and over our favorite Leith dress! (Basically all the things.)
jacket: Free People Dolman Sleeve Quilted Jacket (s) – Also in washed pink or brown, I tried an extra-small, small and medium in this because Free People tends to run big. I liked the extra small that fit a bit more like a bomber jacket, but ultimately went with the small for a bit of an oversized fit. The medium was just a bit too oversized for me.
jeans: MOTHER The Tomcat Ripped Crop Straight Leg Jeans (30–sized up two sizes!) – I LOVE the wash on these and the distressing is perfection.
top: Leith Deep V-Neck Bodysuit (m) – This is SUCH a good layering piece, especially with higher-rise jeans. The bottom doesn’t create awful VPLs and the material is really soft and comfy (and it’s rated 4.7/5 stars from over 200 reviews!).
boots: Vagabond MYA Stretch Bootie – These boots have solved SO many problems for me! The sock boot shape is perfect to wear with everything from cropped jeans to dresses to flares…literally, they go with everything. The best part is that they’re actually comfortable to wear (with or without socks) because of the stretchy material and lower heel.
necklaces: gorjana Chloe Adjustable Necklace – I love that you can adjust the length of this necklace…from a choker to a lariat to a long strand, the versatility is everything (and it’s over 60% off!!) & Estella Bartlett Strength Goldtone Pendant Necklace (also on sale for 60% off–$10!) Also in love, boss and badass, all on sale and packaged perfectly for gifting.
