I don’t do slip dresses. Y’all know my feelings on fancy bras and bra straps (don’t love ’em). But, I will do dresses with open cardigans or sweaters thrown on top. Every now and then I like to try something outside my comfort zone. (You never know when you’re going to discover the next Stupid Pants.)
Everlane’s Japanese GoWeave Slip Dress is made out of the same airy material as my beloved Everlane GoWeave Jumpsuit (ps. I styled that up and immediately saw in my mind all the fun ways I could make it work for different seasons and occasions (current occasions including: getting the mail, dropping off a package at the UPS Store, making dinner, and hiding in my daughter’s bunk bed for a nap). I was attracted to the simplicity of Everlane’s Slip Dress. I stretched my horizons even further by ordering this in LIGHT PINK. Ya girl lives in black and gray, so this was a big deal.
Here’s what the Everlane Slip Dress looks like on its own:

I’ll be honest, I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. I don’t think the light pink flatters my skin tone. I also wish I had ordered a size down. I’m typically a size 10-12 and went with the 12. If you’re between sizes, size down. Still, I wanted to play around with how I’d style this slip dress, because even though this particular slip dress isn’t right for me, I’m not giving up on playing with this look.
7 Outfit Ideas For A Cute Pink Slip Dress
OK, from heels to sneakers, and blazers to graphic tees, let’s dive into how I’d style this slip dress.
1. Slip Dress + Kimono-Style Top
A drapey cardigan or kimono-style top is my go-to look for styling a sleeveless dress. Plus, my open cardigans double as swim cover-ups in the summer so they are multi-use. Mine you see here is old, but this one by AE is similar.

2. Slip Dress + Bomber Jacket + Sneakers
As you know from my jumpsuit post, I love a sporty look. I wish I had a faux-leather, fitted jacket to pair with this. I think it would give a more structured look (adds to wishlist). I adore the combo of sneakers with a dress and these Adidas Superstar Sneakers go with everything.

3. Slip Dress + Graphic Tee + Birkenstocks
I live for a graphic tee under a dress/jumpsuit. I think if the slip dress were a little smaller — if I had purchased a 10 instead of a 12 — this would have been a better look. Still, I love finding ways to incorporate my Rolling Stones Graphic Tee Shirt (TTS – Large) from Target.

4. Slip Dress + Blazer + Heels
I almost — keyword “almost” — wish that I went into an office so that I would have an excuse to wear this pairing. I purchased this Old Navy Classic Pointe-Knit Black Blazer when I suddenly found myself on a last-minute work trip years ago. The faux-leopard print heels (similar) are also from a different season of life. I love a blazer with a dress. But, I don’t work in an office. At this point in my life, the need for business attire is nonexistent. Still, I like the concept for anyone who does.

5. Slip Dress + Mockneck Tee + Sandals
I don’t own a turtleneck (gasp), but after Julieta’s blog post about how to style a patterned turtleneck, I’m definitely grabbing one during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This Daily Ritual Slouchy Tee is the closest I have to a turtleneck. I like the contrast between the pink and the black. My Clare V. Midi Sac Grommet Leather Bag is the perfect accessory to pick up the brown in my ModCloth Chelsea Crew Date Night Heels.

Listen, I know this look isn’t for everyone, especially the socks, but I kind of love it. ModCloth has the quirkiest accessories and I couldn’t resist these sheer, heart patterned socks. I’ve seen the socks & sandals trend coming back, and I’m going to rock with it. Remember fashion can and should be fun! Play with it.
6. Slip Dress + Sweater + Booties
The only thing I love more than a cardigan over a dress is a sweater over a dress. This cream-colored Madewell sweater (similar) thrown over the GoWeave Slip Dress and my Vince Camuto booties (eBay search + similar) feels perfect for a cool spring evening.

7. Slip Dress + Statement Jacket + Heels
Any excuse I have to bust out my Anthropologie Faux Fur Leopard Jacket (eBay search + similar) I will. It’s getting a little too hot for this look here in Texas, but it’ll work in the fall. The earrings and headband give it a little something-something without taking away from the statement jacket.

As I hinted up top, I think I am going to keep looking for my ideal slip dress and incorporate some of the styles above. This Neu Nomad sustainably made slip dress from Immaculate is really speaking to me, but so are several options from other shops. Check them out below!

Meredith, I love the style, humor, and realness you contribute to the blog! This pink looks great on you, but it’s not every day most of us can look in the mirror at a light-colored slip dress on its own and be like, YEAH GIRL. Maybe some can, but definitely not me. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you! I figure now that I’ve done swim suits and shorts for the blog that really there’s nothing else to fear lol
I just bought a slip dress ( black). Thanks for sharing some styling ideas. I think it’s going to be very versatile. And I thought the pink looked good on you!
Aw thank you! That’s nice of you to say. I think I’m just so used to seeing myself in dark colors that lighter ones are jarring!
I’m going to be honest here. but you already know. I think you can do better. This dress looks more like a nightgown to me, and I think it’s because it’s too big, like you said. Cool styling ideas though.
I second what an earlier commenter said…you make a great addition to the team! I have been drawn to light pink/blush lately, and I’m definitely a black and gray girl. Thanks for the inspiration. So good!!!
Thank you so much. That really means a lot 🙂 I think maybe it’s less the pink doesn’t look good as I am not yet used to seeing myself in light colors! I’m glad you liked the blog post 🙂
