Guys, I found it. A flattering summer dress *with pockets.* My list of items I think women need more of in general this summer includes snacks, peace and quiet, movies starring women using swords, and bodily autonomy.
But I’ll start with a dress that has pockets.
Pockets can hold snacks to attend protests for bodily autonomy, or pockets can hold snacks for trips to ice-cold movie theaters where we can watch women kick ass. Either way, we need pockets.
Casual + Cute: This Everlane Riviera Summer Dress (With *Pockets*)
I found this dress when I was clicking around the Everlane website in preparation for my post about the perfect midsize jeans. When I spotted the new Everlane Riviera dress, I immediately threw it in my cart. The cut looked like it would be flattering on my curves (fitted on top, A-line on bottom), and frankly, it’s hot out. I love pants, but on a 90-degree day, nothing beats a dress. I picked the beech color, which is an earthy olive, but the dress also comes in a gorgeous bright-orange shade called turmeric that I’m super-tempted to purchase.
If you’re hoping for some khaki/olive green, there are some additional dress finds at the bottom of this post.
But back to the Everlane dress — clocking in at $98, the price is right for a piece that I’m going to wear so much. Because the top is more fitted than the bottom, I sized down to a medium, and I’m very happy with the drape of the dress. The jersey top is soft against the skin, and the cotton skirt has just the right amount of casual crinkle to it to make me feel like I’m dressed up just a little bit — but never too much.

Earth-Tone Leather Accessories Perfect For My Late-Summer Outfits
I also recently picked up Madewell’s classic Transport Camera Bag in the puffed style. This little crossbody bag holds a lot more than you might think and is so versatile because of its natural leather color. The warm hickory color of the bag ties in perfectly with dusty green of the dress and these super-comfy Børn IWA sandals in brown leather (they also come in a variety of colors). Dare I say, run, don’t walk to purchase these sandals you can actually run in?? (Evidence below!)
What I love most, I can mix and match all of these pieces so easily. I’m planning to wear this dress right into fall with tan leather boots and a cream colored cardigan. In the meantime, I’ll be throwing on this easy outfit for all my favorite late-summer activities like baking stone-fruit tea cakes and hiding from the sweltering heat by curling up with a thick novel.

Love this look! I hate wearing shorts in the summer but this I would wear all day. Waiting for the Everlane restock.
