New denim brands can be a tough sell, especially at first.
I hadn’t tried AGOLDE jeans until a few years ago, unsure of fits and washes (I’m picky about those), and I had been solidly relying on my go-to brands like Levi’s and Madewell. But being someone who doesn’t happily stay in any rut for long (variety being the spice of life and all) I eventually tried them out.
AGOLDE 90s Loose Fit Jeans Are Seriously Good (& Sustainably Made)
Fast forward to now, and I think I’m going on my third year of raving about one pair of AGOLDE jeans or another. They have phenomenal washes; flattering, on-trend cuts (that aren’t tricky to wear), AND they’re sustainably made. In fact, they’re one of my very favorite denim brands from The Mom Edit’s Sustainable Style list**.
**Indicates meets our requirements for sustainability.
This style, AGOLDE 90s Loose Fit, is not only my current favorite from the brand, but also one of my favorite pairs of jeans, period. They’re comfy, current without being too trendy, easy to wear with my existing shoes, and very much my style.

Where To Buy AGOLDE 90s Loose Fit Jeans
I’m finding conflicting naming info on different retailers, but these below all link to my exact pair of jeans, in Fall Out wash, as far as I can tell. Some retailers call them a “mid-rise” style, but then say “high rise” in the description. Heh. Personally, I’d say these are a high-rise, non-stretch jean, but somehow super-comfy as they break in. (Prefer non-distressed? Saks has this pair.)
What I Love Most About AGOLDE 90s Loose Fit Jeans
- wash & distressing (I’m wearing Fall Out wash)
- so comfy–not constricting at the waist, but still flattering
- work perfectly with my boots & high-tops AND flats
- sustainable
- break-in beautifully after just a couple of wears
- they’re great both cropped & full length
How AGOLDE 90s Loose Fit Jeans Fit (+ All About The Rise)
As I mentioned, I prefer a size 28 in these jeans, which is my typical non-stretch jeans size. I didn’t size down like some sites suggest.
Fabric content: 100% cotton
Rise: Approximately 12″
Leg opening, thigh: 12.25″
Leg opening, ankle: 8.5″
Inseam: 29″
I consider AGOLDE The ’90s Loose Fit Jeans to be high-rise, with the rise coming in at 11.75″ for a size 28, even though some of the descriptions say mid-rise. That said, various retailers mark the rise as anywhere from 12.75 – 13″. The pair I measured below are a recent purchase, and haven’t yet been washed. So take that as you will.
I have a shorter, straighter, middle section and rarely wear a 12″ rise. These jeans, however, just relax perfectly without getting too baggy (the magic of 100% cotton), and are one of the few pairs of jeans I can wear all day right now.
I have two pairs of identical AGOLDE 90s jeans, bought two years apart. In the photos below, you can see that the older pair has, ever-so-slightly relaxed, breaking-in just perfectly in the hip/thigh after two years of wear.

You can also see above the ever-so-slight difference in washes (the first pair I bought in 2020, the lighter pair in January 2022). Note: The washes may look noticeably more different in some photos below, but that’s just due to lighting/editing. The photos above are truest in color.
Below, you can see how the full length (29″ inseam) and (diy) cropped lengths compare. I’m so glad I have both and can choose depending on my shoe choice. I mention below that I’m easing into this full-length trend, but I really love it with sneakers right now.

The 5 Best Shoes To Wear With AGOLDE 90s Loose Fit Jeans
Since my shoe choice so heavily influences which pair of jeans I’ll wear, I thought it’d be fun to show you my top 5 pairs of shoes to pair with this 90s loose fit style.
1. Sneakers (or High-Tops)
I’m a sneakers gal, and this is the way I’m wearing my full-length AGOLDE 90s jeans most right now. They look great with high-tops in both lengths and with any sneaker in the full-length. I find either taller shoes, heels or flats look best with the cropped version.

2. Clog Boots
The reason I’ve worn these jeans so much this winter (albeit mild winter temps here in the Pacific Northwest) is because they go so beautifully with my favorite clog boots. Not all jeans can tout that, especially straight/wide-leg jeans. I haven’t tried it with the full-length version since I’m still easing into that silhouette, like I mentioned. These are a bit wide to wear under these straight legs, but I’m down for trying it out.

3. Chunky Chelsea Boots
A chunky black chelsea boot is currently my favorite pair to wear with my cropped version of these AGOLDE jeans. So cool and the bit of edge I like in an outfit. Also, the taller shaft covers my ankles and creates a nice silhouette. I love pairing them with sporty pieces like my fav Adidas track jacket. My favorite Ganni boots would also be great with this look (ps. Shana loves those boots, too).

4. Heels
Heels are always fun with straight-leg and wide-leg jeans. While this is not my daily look, I love, love it for date night or brunch or any dinner out (when I know I don’t have to walk a ton.) LOVE this vibe of preppy, distressed denim and heels. Forever fav.

5. Mules
This is a nice and easy, everyday look that combines my love of my moto jacket with some fun high-maintenance, faux fur-lined flats and a cozy soft turtleneck sweater. The jeans have a little wiggle room to pull them down just a bit or have them sit higher on my waist. I love the versatility but they aren’t so loose they fall down at all. They have formed to my hips and thighs beautifully for a great fit. That’s why rigid denim is so beloved. Stretch denim often stretches out too much after continuous washing or wear.

I don’t often do these deep-dive posts on one particular item. I’m more of a “style it up a million ways” kinda chick. But this was truly worth the time and effort to organize a post on these jeans. They are a real workhorse in my everyday wardrobe right now!
Let me know if you’ve tried out AGOLDE jeans and what your favorite fit is! (You can see a couple more I love like the Lana jean here and the Riley Crop here.) Thanks for reading, friends! Until next time…

Would love for you to say hi over on my Instagram @laurajansenstyle where there are mostly odes to snacks, OOTDs, and everyday mom life stuff in Portland, Oregon. xoxo

I love your trench in this post and see it’s from J Crew-what size are you wearing? Thanks!
Thanks I love it! I’m wearing a S here but have contemplated trying the XS. S is my typical size and I love the oversized look but I do think it runs a little big.
Thank you for the detailed response! Off to Poshmark I go…
These totally work for you! Love the sweater too! Actually your style is right up my alley. I need a leather jacket so bad! So since you asked…..I recently stumbled upon a pair of Agolde that work for me. I bought a pair of Agolde Mia Straight in Rule. They are listed as a mid rise (11 inch rise) and are zip fly instead of button fly. They are described as relaxed through the top block and hip area. Being short waisted and a little straight through the middle, these work better for me. I wish I could do the pinch waist but I cannot, too high waisted. Inseam is 28 inches so I don’t have to cut them off or have them hemmed. I’ve literally tried 4.5 million pairs of straight leg jeans and these are so far my favorite for 100% cotton.
Ah nice I need to try those out! Yeah the pinch waist do not work at all for me. That’s why I love this loose fit 90’s so much. Thanks for the rec of the Mia Straight!
