These MOTHER Jeans Actually Make Me Look Tall (I’m Not.)

No matter what jean trends come and go, the bootcut style will always be my favorite. They just make the most sense visually: fitted at the top, slim through the leg, with a slightly flared hemline to give you (the illusion of) legs for days. I (un)officially declared them to be “back” in February, and I’m sticking to it. I just needed to find a pair that worked better for summer than my classic dark-wash bootcuts jeans.

So, I ordered and tried on a bunch of pairs, and once again, the clear winners are from MOTHER Denim. It has perfected that leg-lengthening silhouette and classic fit that will stand the test of time.

MOTHER Light-Wash Bootcut Jeans = Long Legs + Nice Butts

MOTHER The Weekend bootcut jeans are soft, slightly stretchy, in a lighter wash (I'm wearing Action Shot) with a touch of distressing. They have that same raw frayed hem that gives them a bit of edge, but are just slightly longer (31 inches versus 30.5 inches) & more flared (19.5 inches versus 16 inches -- still considered a bootcut but a bit wider).

You guys may remember me raving about this pair of MOTHER bootcut jeans a few months ago, and the pair I’m wearing above is the perfect summertime version of them. Just as soft, slightly stretchier, in a lighter wash (I’m wearing Action Shot) with a touch of distressing. They have that same raw frayed hem that gives them a bit of edge (and makes it easier to chop), but are just slightly longer (31 inches versus 30.5 inches) and more flared (19.5 inches versus 16 inches — still considered a bootcut but a bit wider).

MOTHER The Weekend bootcut jeans run slightly small (which is pretty consistent for me with MOTHER jeans). I'm wearing a size 29 here, which is my typical MOTHER size (usually a 6/28 in other brands).

The Weekend jeans are technically considered high-rise, but at 10 inches they're on the lower end of high-rise -- aka the perfect rise to wear with everything from cropped tops to bodysuits. I like the zipper closure + distressing detail on the back pockets that give them a bit of a vintage vibe. They feel like jeans you've had forever without actually having to break them in.

Summer Bootcut Inspo: Style With An Open-Back Bodysuit & Edgy Leather Bag

I’ve also gotta talk about this leather pouch-style bag! Laura sent me a link to it a while ago, but it was sold out, and I’ve been dying to try it since. It’s so unique and definitely fun to wear. While it’s not the most summery bag out there, I had to share it with you guys because it’s been sold out FOREVER. (Don’t wait for fall if you want this one. It also comes in a gorgeous, blinged-out crystal version!)

Now, about this Free People bodysuit… I was surprised to see the negative reviews on it, but I think the key is to size down. Free People is notorious for sometimes running huge, and this is definitely one of those cases. I tried both the S and XS, and the XS was ultimately the better fit. I’m usually a small, sometimes medium on top, so I’d say to size down for sure.

I’m not wearing a bra underneath, which is…not typical for me. 😂 I kind of loved that I didn’t have to, though! The open back is so pretty, but check out the picture of the model layering it over a matching bra (orange color) if going braless isn’t your thing. I think it would also look great over a lacy bralette!

I mean, ultimately, MOTHER jeans just make curves look better than any other denim brand I’ve tried. (And I’ve tried A LOT.)
