Recently a reader (hi, Cathy!) posted these pants on our Mom Edit Insiders group saying they looked like the perfect compromise between denim and joggers, so I of course had to try them immediately (in the name of research, of course).
Although I don’t really remember wearing joggers that much prior to 2020, they’ve pretty much taken over my closet since the pandemic started, and now I’m a HUGE fan. (Shana and I even ended up with the same sequin joggers we wore over the holidays.)
So denim? Joggers? Yes, please.

The Perfect Compromise Between Denim & Joggers: One Teaspoon Shabbies Drawstring Boyfriend Jeans
And, you guys…this may be my favorite outfit EVER. Definitely my favorite of 2021 (ha). But seriously, these drawstring jeans?? O. M. G. The BEST. They’re like that perfectly slouchy fit that feels kind of sexy and kind of badass at the same time. And I didn’t think I would be able to wear them until spring or summer (at least not until the snow melts), but I think I found the perfect solution: sock boots and pegging/tight-rolling the bottom.
I folded just the tiniest bit of fabric over before rolling them up and the result is just a slight taper that’s easy to wear over boots. I think it helps to keep the look from being too sloppy…until I can wear them with sandals (because you know I can’t wait to wear them with some fabulous strappy sandals).
jeans: One Teaspoon Boyfriend Drawstring Pants (s, also in a darker wash and black) these are now my favorite jeans. I followed the sizing chart and ordered a small (4-6) and they were perfect. LOVE.
boots: Ellie Booties (38% off, also in black–more sizes here) The color is perfection and the heel is walkable and comfy!
sweater: Halogen Cashmere Turtleneck (s) This was on CRAZY sale and it sold out, but they’ve carried it for years so it’s worth checking back to see when it’s restocked. (This is the crewneck version of the same color and fabric–also on CRAZY sale!)
jacket: Rachel Parcell Moto Jacket (xs) This also sold out, but I’m loving the color of this jacket or the richer brown of this one (both under $100!).
bag: Clare V Midi Leather Crossbody (similar) The leopard print goes with everything, and I love that you can switch up the straps for different looks.
Oh hey, Pinners…
We used to peg our jeans all through college. The baggier the jeans, the better. Then, peg the bottom, Wear with oversized button down. Ugh – WTH were we thinking? Ha!
These are super cute. How is the rise – high, mid, or low?
