This Pretty, Cut-Out Maxi Dress Is Dramatic AND Easy To Wear

Almost every time I’ve opened a fashion magazine lately (fashion magazine? what am I, 90?) or checked on the current trends, I see cut-outs everywhere. Cut-out tops, cut-out dresses, cut-out pants…some, a little more extreme than others.

I pretty much assumed this trend would be a “no” for me (thanks, but no thanks), but then I found this long sleeve, metallic embroidered print maxi dress.

It’s giving me all the ’70s vibes, and the cut-outs are pretty: a little less edgy, a little more wearable. It’s dramatic, it’s on-trend, but it’s also easy to wear.

And omg, do I love wearing it.

This Pretty, Cut-Out Maxi Dress Is A Total Vibe

When I first tried this maxi dress on, I literally said “ooh.”

It covers what I need covered, flows beautifully, and just has a general vibe to it. Nothing clings and it’s not tight, nor is there actually a lot of skin showing. I could wear this to a wedding and feel completely comfortable dancing (and eating!) in it. (See below for bra ideas if going braless is not your thing.)

While the front is definitely sexy, the back is completely covered — and that, (along with the long blouson sleeves and the maxi length) helps to kind of tone down the whole look. The entire dress is lined (aside from the sleeves, which keeps it from being too hot), so it flows nicely and there’s no seeing through the material.

So…What Bra To Wear With This Cut-Out Maxi Dress?

In these photos, I’m not wearing a bra, but there are lots of options if you don’t want to let the girls go free. This bra is super minimalistic and would work underneath, or you could opt for bra tape (this stuff is amazing — it comes with reusable nipple covers so you’re not taping directly over them — I’ve used it multiple times under lots of dresses and tops).

Or if you want a little more modesty, you could go the opposite route and wear it with a pretty bralette that peeks out underneath. (I’m actually really intrigued by these “lift covers!”)

I’m so happy I gave this dress a chance and decided to try it on. It looks like a “no thank you” on the hanger, but I was pleasantly surprised by the way it fit…and the comfort is next-level. It’s just such a fun dress to wear — cut-outs and all!
