Tired Of Black Jumpsuits? Give Terracotta A Whirl.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Vuori. Not only are their fabrics beyond soft, but they drape (or hug) so beautifully, you never look as schleppy as you might expect when wearing them. Over the past year or so, I’ve found myself collecting Vuori’s ribbed leggings, joggers and sweatshirts. I’ve even taken to wearing the Halo Vintage Shorts to bed most nights only to continue wearing them the next day. (Somehow they’re pajama-soft and also wildly flattering and cool as streetwear.) And now I’m the proud owner of one of Vuori’s Lux Jumpsuits.

From The Everyday Schlep To Date Night: This Vuori Jumpsuit

Turns out, the terracotta color of this Vuori Lux Jumpsuit is a really exciting & flattering shade for summer and fall -- & it dresses up or down just as easily as black while looking just a bit more...intentional.

Unsurprisingly, this Vuori Lux Jumpsuit (limited sizes in this exact style but well-stocked in the extremely similar Lux Harem) instantly became one of my favorite things to wear.

More surprising, however, is that rather than going for my usual comfort color of choice — black — I took a chance on this warm Terracotta Heather. Turns out, terracotta is a really exciting and flattering shade for summer and fall — and it dresses up or down just as easily as black while looking just a bit more…intentional.

As you can see here, I wore the Lux jumpsuit with zero styling effort on a morning trip to the bakery (a damp summer morning, it turned out, which still somehow manages to surprise me after years of living on the coast). For that running-around-town purpose, this jumpsuit absolutely excels. Incredibly comfortable, easy to move in — especially when loading the kiddos into and out of the car repeatedly — and a racerback top gets me every time: casually sporty while showing off shoulders. (The nearly identical Lux Harem Jumpsuit, also available in Terracotta, has a scoop neck and non-racerback straps that would actually be much easier for nursing.)

I love the idea of layering up the Vuori terracotta jumpsuit with delicate gold jewelry for an instant pop of effort -- but something about the warm rust shade gives it a Southwestern vibe that would make sterling-silver jewelry equally suitable.

Somehow, that warm terracotta keeps it from feeling too…basic. (Zero shade thrown here — I unapologetically embrace basic to my cliche Millennial core.)

Put simply, I’d gladly run in to one of the cool school moms at the grocery store while wearing this exact outfit.

1 Easy, Comfy Jumpsuit + 5 Ways To Style It

Perhaps the coolest thing about this particular shade & silhouette is that Vuori's terracotta jumpsuit can be styled up a bunch of really fun ways. It gives off an almost artsy, monochromatic vibe when paired with browns or taupes, but it still plays well with basic black too.

Perhaps the coolest thing about this particular shade and silhouette is that, with even the slightest effort, Vuori’s terracotta jumpsuit can be styled up a bunch of really fun ways too. It gives off an almost artsy, monochromatic vibe when paired with browns or taupes, but it still plays well with basic black too — and with cream or ivory? So dang chic.

I also love the idea of layering it up with delicate gold jewelry for an instant pop of effort — but something about the warm rust shade gives it a Southwestern vibe that would make sterling-silver jewelry equally suitable. (Since I’m always wearing both gold and silver turquoise jewelry, this is my dream shade.)

And in terms of styling, so many simple options. Here are just the first five that came to mind when I was playing around with ideas.

Jumpsuit Outfit Idea #1: For The Daily Mom Grind

Add white sneakers or checkered Vans and a broken-in denim jacket a la Scotti (wearing the same jumpsuit in a different shade), and you’re still casual and comfy but more dressed for the day.

Jumpsuit Outfit Idea #2: Best Of The Brunch

Pair it with wooden platforms and a linen blazer (cropped or oversized), and you’re ready for brunch. Ohhh, and while we’re airing our arms, loving this turquoise cuff or this stacked bracelet for a pop of color.

Jumpsuit Outfit Idea #3: Date-Worthy Neutrals

Add a neutral, menswear-inspired vest and strappy heels or mules, and date night is in the bag. (Speaking of bags, a little crossbody would be perfect here.)

Jumpsuit Outfit Idea #4: Just A Casual Thing

A thermal knit, off-the-shoulder sweater and cute flats would be a chic way to take this jumpsuit to a casual workplace (though, admittedly, a sweater over a jumpsuit always makes for a bit of a tricky, umm, potty situation).

Jumpsuit Outfit Idea #5: Fall, But Give It Some Edge

In the fall, you could even rock it with black- or bone-color booties and a similarly hued leather jacket. Love the addition of a graphic bag to up the playful factor just a bit.

And while, yes, you could do all of the above with the same jumpsuit in black, this whole Terracotta Heather thing is such an easy, effortless way to change things up if you’re feeling a little been there, done that.

Lord knows I dig easy.

Made from Vuori's now-signature DreamKnit fabric, both the hand & the drape on this jumpsuit are outta this world. Silky, fluid & so soft. + the way the waist is proportioned makes it look almost like 2 pieces with the tank effortlessly bloused.

Vuori Lux Jumpsuit in Terracotta Heather: Made from Vuori’s now-signature DreamKnit fabric, both the hand and the drape on this piece are outta this world. Silky, fluid and so soft. And the way the waist is proportioned makes it look almost like two pieces with the tank effortlessly bloused. It’s just too good. Of course, now that I’ve talked this thing to death, the sizes are dwindling for this exact jumpsuit, but happily, Vuori also offers an updated style in the same color — the Lux Harem Jumpsuit — that has perhaps an even more flattering scoop neck. The new Lux Harem style also has traditional, non-racerback straps that would arguably be better for nursing. (I breastfed in this exact outfit by just pulling the neck down, but being able to drop a strap might give better access.) Fit is true to size; wearing a small.

Vuori Halo Essential Hoodie: Still super-soft but with a slightly more substantial, stretchier construction, this is the hoodie I reach for when I’m doing anything remotely active and need a layer that still looks flattering and chic. Running, yoga, pilates, beach walks — you name it. Available in loads of cool colors too. Fit is true to size; wearing a small. (I also love the Sunnyside Hoodie when I want a more oversized sweatshirt that gives off more streetwear vibes. See more of it in this post.)

Vuori Yosemite Bra: One of the pieces from Vuori I wear the most. I love the interesting straps and the just-right medium support. I use it for mat workouts and running, but it’s also just a perfect everyday bra. Unfortunately, my color is no longer available, but it is now available in my favorite cactus green! Fit is true to size; wearing a small.

Sandals: Easy neutral sandals that are nice enough to be dressed up and inexpensive enough that I can wear them to the beach without fear of destroying a pricey leather pair of footwear.

Stroller (c/o Doona): I plan to go into more detail in a future post, but we have been loving our Doona Convertible Car Seat/Stroller. (This was gifted for review. Thank you, friends!) It doesn’t have the suspension or storage to be our primary stroller, but for running errands, navigating busy city sidewalks and travel, it’s been absolutely invaluable. (And it should be noted you can buy a spare canopy for just $40!) We have the Midnight Black version, which just means the handlebar and hardware are also black, and for $100 more than the original, I don’t know if it’s worth the premium unless you really prefer the aesthetic — I do love the look, but baby gear is pricey enough as it is. Available directly from Doona as well as Amazon, BuyBuyBaby and Target (but, unfortunately, it almost never goes on sale).

It's no secret: I'm a huge fan of Vuori. Unsurprisingly, this jumpsuit is 1 of my fave outfits to wear. What is surprising? I ditched my usual black for terracotta — & loved it.
