Is it any coincidence that Saks is having an AMAZING sale right on the first day of the fall season? I think not. Saks definitely knows where our heads are at (denim, boots, plaid, jackets, tweed, all the cool-weather things). So, let me just start off by saying thanks, Saks. You get us.
Starting today until Sunday, 10/01, take 25% off new arrivals (+ earn double points sitewide) — no code needed.
Saks Has Fall Outfit Staples Covered: Here Are 5 Cute Looks
Upon taking a peek (actually, a lengthy look) at the sale, I started to notice a few categories of fall wardrobe staples that I kept adding to favorites: cropped/short jackets, button-ups, wide-leg jeans, cargo pants and textured mini dresses (i.e., things that go with everything).
Not only was I already in an autumn-dressing headspace and proooobably unknowingly seeking these items out myself, but the vast sale selection was almost yelling them at me. There are so many good pieces in this sale that I considered updating all of my fall wardrobe go-to’s. (Considered…or wished/dreamed/etc.*) Staples, must-haves, go-tos…they’re all in this sale. Let’s get into five cute fall looks, all on sale.
Fall Outfit Staple 1: Cropped Jackets
Cropped jackets just pair well with SO MUCH. They can be worn with a lot of drape or even big, baggy pieces because your waist doesn’t get lost in excess jacket/coat material. They add the perfect amount of shape while adding warmth — and we love having both. BTW, don’t get scared away by the word “cropped.” For the most part, I’m talking about jackets that hit right at the waist or a teeny bit above. We’re not chopping off too much here.
Notes: I paired one of MOTHER’s cute little graphic tees with a gorg denim skirt from FRAME to make things easy (+ to give an option for those warmer fall days). Add on a cropped jacket like this AGOLDE puffer when the temps dip, and you’re golden.

Fall Outfit Staple 2: Button-Up Shirts
Button-ups (/buttondowns/button-downs..who knows?) have been rocking the scene since early spring, and we still aren’t tired of them. We’ve been going for a lot of bigger, oversized ones for an effortless, Princess Diana-esque look, but this specific rag & bone button-up is a slight departure from that. It’s shorter and slimmer, giving a more tailored & fresh dressed-up vibe, which pairs extremely well with looser-fitting trousers.
Notes: The weight of the Vince wide-leg trousers (both the bagginess & dark, black color) is contrasted so well with this slightly cropped & tailored top. Slip on some pointed-toe boots to peek out of the wide-legs for the chicest look — and try silver boots (or any metallic) to go even chicer. Also, how good do these blues look with black? I’m kiiind of in love with this color combo??

Fall Outfit Staple 3: Wide-Leg Jeans
Must I say more? Jeans of a wider style (baggy, barrel, trouser, cargo…you name it) have been HOT for a while now, and like button-ups, we’re still in love with ’em over here at TME. An easy wide-leg pair to style with smaller tops and larger knits alike would be ones like these relaxed, flared AGOLDE low-rise jeans that aren’t too baggy at the hips. There’s just enough structure up top to play nicely with pretty little tops like this Alice + Olivia polo that I’m dying over.
Notes: An outfit formula that we’ve been LOVING lately is baggy jeans + a tiny pretty top + ballet flats (oh, and silver bags with everything), so I pretty much just combined all of our faves into one adorable ‘fit. Trust us, these pieces look unreal worn together. (More on that from us, really soon…hehe.)

Fall Outfit Staple 4: Cargo Pants
Cargo pants are pretty much a fall wardrobe hero when you’ve just had enough of your jeans. These satin parachute pants by Cinq À Sept happen to be deliciously silky and soft too, which also gives your jeans a run for their money. They’re so easily dressed up (like with a sexy cami and heels) or down like I did below. The versatility!!!!
Notes: For a laid-back but stylish look, pair silky cargo joggers with a T-shirt (peek at this rag & bone tee) and a cool sweatshirt (I’m not a pearl girl but dang, I want this hooide), and sport some low-top sneakers for an everyday vibe that’s just a little bit more special than sweats. (Or a lot, let’s be serious.)

Fall Outfit Staple 5: Textured Mini Dresses
Mini dresses are always amazing. Always. They’re sexy, not too constricting, and for the colder months, go with alllll the coats & jackets (or toppers, as we like to say). I’m noting that textured mini dresses are a fall staple because light cotton & linen usually get thrown to the wayside when it gets cooler (because…we’re chilly), so upping up the thickness to a denim, tweed, wool or sweater texture brings that lovely warmth back in. And looks so freaking cool. (I’m obsessing over the entire widget below.)
Notes: I will now start seeing this denim mini dress by Cinq À Sept in my dreams. The waist detail is gorgeous (and adds shape!), and that fab plaid puffer from Ramy Brook is the icing on the cake… Well, that is if those knee-high Veronica boots aren’t. I can’t decide. I love this outfit too much.
