Fall comes quickly in the Upper Midwest, which means…it’s already jacket-and-coat season up here! They basically become a necessity sometime between mid-September and October (and there have been plenty of Halloweens we’ve had to trick-or-treat in snowsuits), so I’m somewhat of an expert in all things outerwear. I love the transition to cooler days and chilly nights — the days where I can still wear cute coats and jackets instead of a snowsuit and winter boots.
The Season Of Fall Coats + Jackets Is Here! These Are My Top 3
I recently ordered a TON of jackets and coats, looking to find the one. Instead, I found three that I’m super-excited about: a double-breasted, oversized blazer, a packable puffer (that packs down to a curved travel pillow!), and a belted wrap coat in the most GORGEOUS hot-pink color (very #Barbiecore).
Fall Jackets & Coats I Can’t Get Enough Of
1. Madewell Drapeweave Caldwell Double-Breasted Blazer (XS): This blazer is everything. I rarely find a double-breasted blazer that fits my proportions (small on top, medium on bottom); usually if it fits in the shoulders, it’s too tight across the hips and butt. But this one? Perfection. It’s that slightly oversized fit that’s not too overwhelming and easy to throw on over everything. (I recently wore it over a pair of black shorts and a cami, and it was a cute alternative to an LBD.) This one is casual enough for daily wear but can also easily be dressed up.
2. Madewell Airpuff Quilted Packable Puffer Jacket (XS): The color originally drew me to this one, but all of the features sold me on it. For example, I love that it’s made from recycled fabric and filled with PrimaLoft insulation (a down alternative made of 100 percent recycled content that’s just as warm). It’s not the thick puffer you’re used to and is thin enough to layer under a winter coat when it’s really cold. AND?? It doubles as a travel pillow. Roll it up, tuck it in and tie it to your suitcase. Takes “packable” to the next level.
3. Sam Edelman Belted Wool-Blend Coat (4): I saw this in-store back during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and had to try it on because of that gorgeous pink color. I love the shape of the structured shoulders and the fit through the waist — the waist-defining belt helps show off curves, but it also looks good just left open. It’s 95% wool, so it’s really warm but not scratchy. It’s actually really soft to the touch and has an inner liner that’s smooth against my skin. (The pink is currently almost $100 off, and it also comes in an amazing electric blue.)
Is there another fall jacket you guys love? Let me know so I can try it too!
