It was really no question when I saw these amazing colorblocked Western boots at Nordstrom… They needed to be mine.
I’m a longtime fan of the Western-inspired boot style and have been rocking them with my black denim for years. This season is no different! As long as brands keep coming out with rad boots, I’ll keep pairing them with my favorite black Levi’s. It’s a true love story between me and these tough-girl shoes and black jeans.
If It Isn’t Broken… Western Boots Fit Right In My Go-To Fall Outfit Formula
I have an upcoming post about styling cowboy boots in an edgier way, but this combo of tough and Western-ish is real favorite of mine.
I’m inspired by designers like Anine Bing, Rebecca Minkoff, AllSaints, Isabel Marant (all of which can be found at Nordstrom, btw). They all have these elements I love in their lines — lots of black leather, denim (especially black), Western-inspired accessories, metal elements like studs and zippers, and a touch of feminine in the details.

I love taking those elements I adore and pulling them together into easy everyday-outfit versions too, with some of my favorite everyday brands like Madewell and Levi’s. And over the years, through Nordstrom, I’ve fallen in love with quite a few boots from Matisse and Coconuts by Matisse. They make great styles of shoes and boots at a few different price points.
The Boots Comfort + Fit: I know you’re wondering, and these Coconuts by Matisse Marvin booties are actually cushioned inside. I know. Cute AND cushiony…what’s not to love. The boots are synthetic but have a quality leather look (trust me, I’m picky), and the ivory is a heavy canvas. I sprayed them well before my first wear with a shoe protectant, and I’ll re-spray throughout the season. The fit is true to size, but size up if you want to wear thicker socks, IMO.

This Madewell Banded Muscle Tee is great. It has a perfect capped sleeve and is cropped-ish with an elastic waistband. I’m shorter-waisted, so that typically works well for the “crop” hitting at the waist for me. This baby comes in some lovely colors (my red is going fast) and fits true to size. Wearing a small.
This cute crossbody purse is also from Madewell and is the perfect size. I love the structure and clip-on handles (that just means more fun with interchangeable straps!). It has a cool magnetic closure at the top interior to keep things secure too.

As for the jeans and the jacket? Well, they are two of my longtime favorites. The jeans are the beloved Levi’s Wedgie fit, and they break in gorgeously to fit your bod with a couple of wears. I size up in rigid denim, and these are allllmost broken in after just a few wears (and squats) — I love them. Size up more if you want a looser fit.
The moto jacket is my all-time favorite AllSaints Balfern leather jacket that I’ve talked about for years here. I love that Nordstrom continually carries these cool closet staples.
This jacket is lovely with everything I pair it with, perfect for travel since it looks good with dresses and jeans and loungewear. It’s just, to use my favorite word, rad. Oh, and soft. It’s so soft and also breaks in beautifully after a few wears. Size up if you’d like to layer yours over thicker sweaters. TTS for a more fitted look like I have on here.
Because I Love Them, Here Are A Few More Ways I’d Style These Boots
I always love a simple tee with great details, black denim and my favorite moto jacket with any pair of cool boots, but I thought it’d be fun to dream up a few more looks featuring these Marvin Western booties too.
With An Oversized Shirt-Jacket + Statement Bag
With A Striped Maxi Dress + Soft Jean-Jacket Alternative
With An Oxblood Crossbody + Cozy Cardigan
With A Sleek Sleeveless Sweater + Midi Skirt
These boots I love are just fun, right?! Something a little unique and different. And it’s finally boot season. Hooray!
I feel like I keep ending every post right now with “come on, fall,” and yet again that’s my temptation here… It’s slowly starting to cool down here in the Northwest, and I am so here for it!
Until next time, peeps…
