For years I’ve relied on Gap for fun holiday pieces, and this year is no different. Give me a fabulous pair of dressy black jeans (amazing velvet in this case!) and some sparkles, and I can make that work for any holiday event.
This outfit combination with an adorable chunky-knit cardigan, the Shine Scarf and black-velvet jeans is easily wearable to any locale where you want to be warm and cozy this season. It’s a simple look that can go to the office or casual drinks out with friends or your upcoming casual New Year’s Eve plans…and these pieces will take you through the holidays and beyond too. I love that for us. No once-a-year-only purchases for our closets!
Gap also has great gifts under $30 right now, perfect for holiday exchanges and stocking stuffers!
**PS — Now through 12/19, get up to 60% sitewide + an extra 20% off on orders $100+ with code: ADDON. Order by 12/19 to get your gifts in time for the holidays!**
A Very Velvet Holiday: A Cute (+ Subtly Sparkly) Outfit From Gap
sweater (XS) | jeans (29) | scarf
Everyone else is all about Barbiecore this year, but personally, I’m loving this scarf-and-sweater combo with tone-on-tone neutrals. It’s perfect for those of us who don’t really do bright colors. These pieces have some subtle sparkles that show up a little more in person.
When the little bits of the Shine Scarf and Chunky V-Neck Cardigan catch the light, they say, “I’m ready to party” without being too…in-your-face sparkly. That’s my holiday vibe. Just add black to it, and we’re set. I think Amy recently snagged this adorable, subtly sparkly cardigan too! It’s just a good find.
Next, Gap’s Velvet Vintage Slim Jeans look luxe, but don’t let that fool you. They’re way comfier than other trousers I’ve tried because they’re a great stretchy, slim jean cut. They’re slightly cropped and show off a great shoe.
(Ooh, and speaking of shoes, if you need warmer shoes that still look dressy, Gap has this cute pair of black pointed-toe, kitten-heel boots that would look great here.)

If anything here, do NOT miss out on the velvet straight-leg jeans (and it looks like they’re selling fast, friends). They’re the kind of jeans I put on and say “yep” immediately. They’re so comfy and cute, I wore them the rest of the day after this shoot (that’s saying a lot). And I wore them recently to our Mom Edit holiday party! So fun.
The fit is TTS, but they do have stretch. I’m wearing a 29 regular here, and they’re comfy for all day long! I’m between a 28 and 29 — and maybe could have stuck with the 28 — but the stretch is SO good and holds its shape throughout the day. OOH, and check out this mid-rise pair (same cut) in a deep chocolate brown. So lovely! I probably need to add those to the mix!

An Easy Holiday Outfit That’ll Shine (Literally): The Details
Chunky V-Neck Cardigan (with sparkles! XS): This cardigan is so cozy and cute, and if you’ve been around here at all you know I love a cropped sweater right now. Being shorter in the torso, I’m finally realizing what a game-changer they are for showing off my waistline and, in this case, whatever cute pants are on my bod! This chunky cardigan has subtle sparkles, so it’s perfect for everyday, the office, or when you just want a cozy-but-festive option. Runs slightly oversized (and I tend to size down on this style sweater anyway.)
High-Rise Velvet Vintage Slim Jeans with Washwell (29): I can’t imagine cuter holiday jeans. These are so lovely on — soft and luxe, but the fit is also superb! I was immediately happy when I pulled them on. They run TTS, but because of the stretch, I wouldn’t size up if you’re between sizes. These are the ones I wore to our TME holiday party — they’re so good!
Shine Scarf: Talk about cozy and festive… This scarf also has a touch of bling but not too much, so you can totes sport it daily. It’s soft and cozy, and it accompanied me on my trip to NY and Philly, where it came in super-handy for warmth too!
Side note: We took these festive photos right on Staten Island recently when I was visiting with my pal and photographer Posy. She grew up in the summers there and other parts of NY, and I couldn’t finish out this article without giving a shoutout! After two visits there this year, I’ve now proclaimed it as my forever pizza home. Love it!
Happy holidays, friends! Wherever you are, I hope you get some pizza half as decent as every slice I had there — I mean have a great holiday season!!
xoxo,
L

Thank you! They are a very old pair from Vince. I stick with a kitten heel these days for sure!
