I am truly a gal who loves change, so when I find something really good that I wear over and over, I feel like it’s very much worth talking about.
I’ve covered these fav Athleta Cosmic Pants quite a few times already here on TME, but gosh. They really are the perfect versatile pants that will take you anywhere. How many pants can boast that they can go to the office AND camping? Yup. These are good.
Fit & Sizing Notes: These things are a fabulous tech type fabric that is soft, cooling, and hangs so nicely. They come in black, taupe and navy, in sizes 0-26 in Regular lengths, and 0-16 in Tall & Petite. They fit TTS and as a reminder I’m 5’4″ size 6, 28 in jeans, and have an athletic frame. I wear the petite length and it’s perfect.
How I’m Styling My Go-To Black Wide-Leg Pants
These babes went with me on a recent glamping trip and they work for the road trip part, the sightseeing part, the hiking part, the beach walk part AND even the sleeping part…haha. It was camping, no judgment.
1. With Sandals
Flat shoes are what I wear most often, and to have a pair of pants that works both with sneakers and with a lower heel is awesome. Love how these go with these crazy blingy sandals, my beloved checkered Vans AND my new Nike Court sneakers, too.
2. With Sneakers
3. With Heels
I adore this outfit that I’ve covered before, so much. It’s just easy, but looks elevated. Pop in a work-appropriate top or throw a blazer over this and voila. Office wear. I have put my favorite moto jacket over this for cooler date nights and it’s fab. Kitten heels are great here because the pant length still works.
How I’m Wearing The Athleta Wide-Leg Pants For Fall
I’m really digging a longer jacket with these wide-leg pants. I think for those of us who are shorter, when we’re wearing full pants like these, it looks good to either go long or short with jackets. A tunic length jacket or top that hits at the hips or above the knees just winds up being less flattering in general, but especially with wide leg pants.
1. With A Raincoat
I’ve been so pleasantly surprised with this soft lightweight Everlane raincoat. This color just makes me happy, and after living in the Pacific Northwest for more than 10 years now, when a raincoat makes me happy you know it’s good. (We get a little exhausted by raincoats.)
2. With An Army Jacket
This is my beloved Anine Bing army jacket that is totally worth the investment (I wish I’d gotten a pic of it closed here too bc the collar is just fab.) It’s soft, and it’s the lighter jacket I grab year-round to make any outfit a little more pulled together. See my ‘worth it’ post here for more outfit examples.
3. With My Favorite Cozy Fleece
This is the jacket that will never die. It’s just phenomenal. I’ve had it for over a year now, and it’s just the coziest and best. It’s also on sale at Backcountry right now. Score! TTS and so soft, but the structure of it definitely levels this up above other fleece jackets. So good. I bring it on all of my weekend trips.
Be sure to snap these closet-staple pants of mine while they’re still in stock in multiple sizes and lengths, to get your perfect fit. They will sell out. Have you tried them? What are you wearing them with right now, friends?
You can see a few more pics of these pants in action from my latest packing for a weekend in the PNW post, too. Until next time…
