I parted ways with my entire assortment of torn, stained, and hole-ridden t-shirts and soft pants that I called “pajamas.” All of them. Gone. This purge was followed by research and investment in a few pairs of high-quality Eberjey pajama sets to wear on repeat — saying goodbye to my nightly dig of finding good-enough shabby matches. I am happy to report I have not regretted this purge once. Truth.
Getting ready for this pajama purge, however, was daunting. I was in a bit of a panic letting go of so many soft things all at once. I do adore my soft things, and there was absolutely a level of comfort in having this old tattered pj collection around. Now, though, that the three drawers (yes, three drawers!!!) of these raggedy pieces are out of my life and have been recycled (some as literal cleaning rags), it feels ah-mazing!
My old mismatched “pajama collection” was truly just clutter taking up unwanted physical and mental space. That nightly dig for something to wear? Annoying and energy depleting (anyone else making their way through the book Minimilista?)
I have now fully embraced owning only a few pairs of high-quality pajamas that I enjoy and look forward to wearing. I have to do laundry a bit more regularly for clean pajamas, but totally worth it.
5 Reasons Eberjey Pajama Sets Have Replaced My Tattered Sleepwear
Eberjey sets feel like they were MADE for me. Pajamas I can happily lounge in all day long (you know the days)… pajamas I can sleep in comfortably year-round…pajamas I’m not embarrassed to rock when opening the door for UPS…pajamas that make me feel just glamorous enough.
Shana, not surprisingly, has the pajama glamour thing going strong in her Quince and Lunya silk pajama comparison — she looks like a pajama goddess in those silk shorty shorts. I have a different personal style, though, from my good friend Shana, and feel plenty glamorous (in the most comfortable way) in my slouchy pajama set. As I said…I feel like Eberjeys were MADE for me.
Sizing Note: I’m 5’2. Wearing a S in the black set (photos taken at 130-ish lbs) and a S in the blue set (photos taken at 140-ish lbs). The small still fits, but I recently ended up buying a medium at my current weight and am happier with an even slouchier fit.
Shopping Note: This particular style of Eberjey Pajamas sells out every single year at the major retailers. I included several options for shopping, though, so you can hopefully find your favorite color and size combination. Right now, the best stock is available at Zappos and Eberjey (both with free shipping and returns), but some sizing/colors are available at other retailers as well listed at the bottom of the post.
1. The Sustainable TENCEL Is So SUPER Soft
So super soft, you guys. So soft. Made from sustainable TENCEL modal fibers, this fabric as described on Eberjey’s website, “envelops the body in comfort.” SUCH a perfect description. An absolute pleasure to wear.
2. Eberjey PJs Have That Cute Ribbon Tie
All of the Giselle slouchy sets come with the cute wide ribbon tie on both the pants and the bottom of the tops. Most have a contrasting color (which I love). Eberjey’s “sweatpants” are the same cut and style as the slouchy pajama pants, but are thicker and come with a same-color matching tie. I have and love the sweatpants as well, but they don’t have as much personality without the contrasting tie.
3. Eberjeys Are Lightweight & Not Sweaty
Ahhhh…the beauty of TENCELl! Holds color really well, super-soft, and BREATHABLE! I run very hot while sleeping, but am comfortably able to sleep even in the summer in this set (although I do sometimes switch out the top for a cami). The pajamas ARE thin and lightweight, so I have stuck to the darker colors. In my initial pajama research, I read reviews that the lighter colors are more see-through. If you’re looking for a heavier feel, I love this thicker version of sweatpants from Eberjey for lounging and wearing out and about.
4. Eberjey PJs In-Law Appropriate
In-laws, UPS delivery person, kids’ friends at sleepovers…you get the idea. I feel totally comfortable wearing these pajamas in front of ANYONE. Also…throw a cardigan over the top and it’s maybe an outfit? Sort of? Maybe? Definitely a loungewear “outfit” or good enough to run out to get coffee while on vacation “outfit”.
5. Eberjey Sets Are Easy To Wash
Some of the retailers say “hand-wash” for this pajama set, but Eberjey’s site states they’re machine-washable. Mine have gone through both the washer and dryer on repeat. Very little pilling after a TON of wear and no fading either (again…with the benefits of TENCEL….so good).
Where To Buy My Eberjey Gisele Slouchy PJ Set
More Pajama Sets I Have My Eye On
In my absolute ideal world, Eberjey would make a set with the slouchy pants and a matching cami that has a cute t-back (I love a good cami for sleeping). Or maybe some more pattern options (like a dark base with a simple pin stripe). Ooooh…or if Lunya made an all silk version of Eberjey’s balloon pants with a matching cami. Do we think maybe they’ll be contacting me soon for a pajama design consult? One can dream. What other pajama sets are you guys loving these days? Would love to hear your pajama set favorites.
