A Review of rag & bone’s Slade Blazer (Spoiler: I Adore It)

I had been eyeing this beautiful rag & bone Slade blazer (and its perfect collar) for YEARS.

I’m partial to a good blazer, but this one looked even more stunning than the rest. I finally ordered it last month and…wowza. Yup. It’s as good as it seemed.

Rag & bone is running their Friends & Family Sale right now (25% off for a limited time), so I had to share just how much I love the Slade blazer. It is definitely an investment, but this will be a forever closet piece, for sure. (ps. I’d bet Nordstrom would be willing to price match, too).

This blazer can make any basic outfit look sharp and pulled together, and I’m especially excited to have this piece for travel. You can layer it over just about anything. Don’t miss it while it’s on sale, friends!

The rag & bone Slade Wool Blazer: A Forever Closet Piece I Adore

I was so distracted by the shape of the collar and the cool style of the Slade blazer that I didn’t read about the construction details until the blazer arrived. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this 100% Japanese wool jacket is soft, stretchy and unlined, making it wearable most of the year.

A lined blazer is lovely if you really need a polished look for work or dressy occasions, but I prefer the comfort and stretch of the unlined Slade blazer — this is the kind of jacket I really will grab all the time.

This blazer is so versatile, too. I can comfortably wear it with just a tee right now on cool, spring days, yet it's thin enough to layer under a topcoat next winter.

I was waffling on which color to go with because the army green is lovely, but I’m very happy with the black for versatility (and because I already have my Anine Bing green army jacket I love). It looks like there’s also currently a plaid option on sale, too.

How The rag + bone Slade Wool Blazer Fits

Though it has lovely stretch, especially for 100% wool, this blazer does run small. I tried my typical size 6 first but it didn’t quite fit at the waist.

I then ordered the 8 and it’s perfect. Sometimes I have trouble with things fitting too small in the shoulders, too, but that wasn’t an issue with this. It still fits in the shoulders, but I’m able to button it. I love wearing it open like I did above, but it’s so sharp buttoned-up, too.

Size Notes: As a refresher, I’m 5’4″ and typically a 28 in jeans, 32DD bust, straighter through the middle and an athletic frame. I’m pretty straight through the middle and have hips and a bum, so sizing might be a little different for you if you have a narrower waist.

Black makes it so hard to photograph the details well, but hopefully these show you the general size difference. I’m wearing the smaller size 6 in the professional photos above, too.

I know it may be warming up more where you are than here in the Northwest, but buying this baby on sale for later is the way to go.

I’ve been slowly building my forever closet, and I love when I come across such beautiful pieces like this. I know the rag & bone Slade blazer will serve me for years!

  1. Gah! I love this blazer so much…looks great on you too. Now for the sizing question…lol…I am typically a 4 with smaller shoulders and a 34D chest…I’m torn if I should go up to a 6. I personally have shoulder issues being too big when I go up and also length of the sleeve. I’m 5’3….any thoughts? I might just wing it and order the 6…idk 🙂

    • Hmm it is tricky. But I think the 6 seems like a good option! It does have stretch. And it’s so cute worn open, too. I believe I’d start with the 6!

  2. I love mine!! I originally purchased this in black and loved it so much I also got the olive. I agree it runs small. I’m typically a 0-2 in jackets but went with a 4 in this one. I think calling it a blazer is a little misleading. I would consider it more of a sweater blazer because there is no lining and it feels like a very soft wool sweater. I”ve had mine for about 2-3 years and they are still in great condition. Highly recommend!!

  3. It looks SO great on you, Laura! (And? DANGIT! I wanted to forget about this blazer!) It caught my eye when you first talked about it … and now I’m considering taking the plunge. I have a lovely lightweight wool coat from J.Crew that has a similar stand-up collar and I LOVE IT every time I put it on … which at this point has been a lot because it’s 15 (!!) years old. But I feel this blazer would have a similar vibe. Thank you for the review!
