I initially fell in love with the color of these pants, but when they arrived…OMG. They’re as comfy as pj pants. And even better? They’re 35% off right now with code FRIENDS.
Ultimate Comfort: 5 Ways To Style Green Velvet Pants For The Holidays
On the J.Crew site, they say they’re comfy enough to sleep in…and I 100% agree. Easy pull-on, no extra bulk of buttons or hook closures, and a stretchy waistband that doesn’t dig in or create muffin-top. Pockets that don’t add volume and an easy leg that’s wide but not too wide. I tried the 6 in both the regular and petite sizes, and ultimately the regular worked better. The petite was a bit too short in the rise, and I found that the length of the regular wasn’t too overwhelming on me. In short, these green velvet pants will be THE holiday pants for me.
Here are five ways to wear them (plus a bonus look at the end).
1. Green Velvet Pants + A Sparkly (Supersoft) Cardigan
This cardigan is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. I love the sparkle that’s subtle and pretty, not gaudy and tacky. The crystals feel secure, not like they’re going to fall off at any minute. And it’s made from that supersoft yarn that I love. (I have it in both the turtleneck and the mockneck sweater dress — see pics below). I wasn’t sure if I’d like the small or xs and the gray or the camel, so I bought both. Here I’m wearing the xs in grey and below is the camel in small. I might keep them both, that’s how good it is! 😍

This one is slightly oversized and a tad longer. There was enough fabric to do that knot-tie on the ends for a different way to wear it (that also highlights the waist). I love the camel with the green!

2. Green Velvet Pants + A (Fancy) Sweater
I’m obsessed with all of the fancy sweaters this year. Puffed sleeves, sparkly embellishments, cut-out details…these pants would go great with all of them. This one is cashmere — oh so soft and I love the puffy but not too over-the-top shoulders. It’s on sale and also comes in navy and a super light grey.

3. Green Velvet Pants + A Graphic Tee
When in doubt, add a graphic tee. They pretty much go with everything and keep the vibe comfy, casual and cool. You could do a half-tuck, but I also like to knot it at the side.

4. Green Velvet Pants + A Turtleneck Tee
This really is the perfect layering piece for winter. It’s soft and thin, but doesn’t cling to my belly like some thin shirts do. You could easily throw on a cardigan, blazer, jacket or sweater over it but it’s substantial enough to wear on its own. (Made of cotton and sustainable for the win!)

5. Green Velvet Pants + A Festive Top
This top was too small in the hips, but you get the idea! A sparkly little cami or a velvet top like this one takes these pants to the next level. I’d throw on a blazer (my favorite is on sale for over 50% off!) for extra warmth and you’re party-ready. (Even if it’s just at home!)

Bonus: My Favorite Sweater Dress & Coat Combo
I couldn’t resist including my new favorite outfit. This dress is awesome: soft, warm and stretchy and it doesn’t cling to your body. The neck is perfect because it’s not too high and you don’t need to mess with it to get it to look right. I absolutely love the combination of the dress with the mockneck coat. It gives me all those 1960s vibes, especially with boots! I’ll add tights when the weather gets colder but for now I’m loving the bare legs. (The lilac dress and navy coat would be pretty and the black dress and olive coat would be a great combo too!)

Oh, hey, Pinners….this one’s for you.

Love these looks! This post just reminded me that I have these pants in black from last year. Can’t wait to try them again! Super comfy but still cute! Total vibe for this year!
J Crew pants are 60% off today!
You’re making me want these pants! But how would you style them in a place where its snowy/icy most of the year? Like what kind of winter shoes would look good with them?
Right…I probably wouldn’t wear shoes like these if I left the house (which I’m not doing much of, tbh), but I’d wear black sock boots if I did! OR, if the weather was REALLY bad (as it often is here), I’d honestly just wear snow boots and bring cute shoes with me if I was going to someone’s house. (The snow here is often measured in feet, not inches.)
Either you need to stop posting J. Crew outfits or I need to stop reading this blog – this is my fifth online order in as many days lol.
Hi Scottie! LOVE your style and it’s helpful that you post what sizes you wear but can you please share your approx height/weight? Wanting to make some purchases but don’t know if I’m the same size as you! TIA!
Yay! Thank you! So I’m 5’4″ and about 134 lbs, more of a pear shape. I usually wear a 6/28 in pants and small tops. Hope that helps!!
