With summer basically here, the team’s been on a search for the best denim shorts — the kind we can wear comfortably for day-to-day life. (Whatever amount of city-walkin’ or chasing after kiddos that might entail). Personally, I’d love a pair I can wear when I’m (frantically) running behind my nephew.
First, our denim journey started off with a review & try-on of AGOLDE’s Parker shorts. Today, we’re all trying KUT from the Kloth.
The main mission is to find denim that’s comfortable to walk and sit in (no riding up or awkward showcasing welcomed here), fabric that wears nicely over time (all about that cost-per-wear), and a pair that’s soft but still has some shape and structure to it — that’s denim gold.
KUT From The Kloth Jane Denim Shorts: A Team Try-On & Review
One of the things that originally drew me to KUT from the Kloth? It’s good-quality denim (around 90-99% cotton) but doesn’t come with that $100+ price. Once I looked into the brand more, I found a ton of interesting styles and lengths of denim shorts, with some offering plus-size, petite and tall options.
The final team consensus for which style to try landed on KUT from the Kloth’s high-waisted Jane denim shorts. Keep on scrollin’ for everyone’s thoughts…

KUT From The Kloth Jane Denim Shorts, Shana’s Take
Tank (S) | Bra | Shorts (2) | Vans
Shana says: Well, well, well. Turns out, I love these shorts. They’re stretchy — which is a welcome change, especially in the heat — yet have the look (and wash) of more-rigid denim. I love the vintage-esque button fly and the short-but-wearable 3-inch inseam length.
Details: These shorts run a little loose, but I wasn’t mad about it. I also found that the leg opening is bigger than my other shorts, if anyone is looking for cutoffs for athletic thighs. These were a happy surprise! I’m wearing a Size 2.

KUT From The Kloth Jane Denim Shorts, Scotti’s Take
Scotti says: I liked these shorts, but ultimately they felt a little too short for me. I loved the fit and the fact that they weren’t tight around my butt and legs (typically a problem for me with denim shorts), but I wanted a slightly longer length.
Details: These run TTS (if not slightly big for denim shorts) — I often size up in shorts, but the 6 is perfect.

KUT From The Kloth Jane Denim Shorts, Linzi’s Take
Tank | Shorts (8) | Sandals | Bag
Linzi says: So, for those of you who know me, I am NOT a denim shorts gal, BUT…I seriously considered keeping these KUT from the Cloth Jane shorts. You know…in case I at some point am in a MUST-wear-denim-shorts type of emergency. They’re the best-looking and best-fitting denim shorts I’ve tried in a very, VERY long time.
Details: I’m wearing an 8 here, and I’m thinking of trying the 6 just to see the difference in fit, but I do like the slouch in these. They don’t move around quite as much as the Levi’s and AGOLDE’s on me, and they feel like they just fit my body better than other brands. They’re soft, I liked the color of the wash, and if I was forced to wear denim shorts, these would definitely be my top pick of the ones I’ve tried.

KUT From The Kloth Jane Denim Shorts, Laura’s Take
Laura says: I wound up really liking this pair of KUT From The Kloth shorts. They are super-soft but structured + have stretch and a great wash (this wash is called Tendency). I love the exposed button fly. I don’t need many pairs of shorts here in Portland, so I didn’t wind up keeping them, but they are a great find, especially at this price point.
Details: TTS. Wearing a 6.

KUT From The Kloth Jane Denim Shorts, Kat’s Take
Kat says: Do these KUT from the Kloth Jane shorts top my current fave Target no-gap shorts that are under $30? Well, no… But ultimately I will still be keeping them because they are quite different from my typical go-to denim shorts. These shorts have ample space in the legs and don’t hug my ultra-curvy bum, which I totally love because they feel like a classic nod to the 90s!
Details: My one issue with these shorts is that I wish they were just an inch or two longer. But aside from the shorter length, I am overall really impressed with the wash of the denim, the feel and the slightly oversize fit. I did size up to a 22 for a roomier look.

KUT From The Kloth Jane Denim Shorts, Amy’s Take
Amy says: I’ve been looking for a pair of shorts that had a frayed top hem after seeing a pair in a movie, and was so excited to find the Jane shorts from KUT from the Kloth came in that style!! I love them so much more than I was expecting to, and my husband even mentioned how much he loved them, so…win.
Details: My sizing always runs between a 6 and an 8, and I ordered an 8 for these shorts. They’re definitely big, which I kind of loved at first because I can wear them lower on my hips, but I just ordered the 6, and I think those will be perfect.

Stay tuned for our next denim shorts try-on!
