We’ve been talking a lot here at TME about workwear. It’s kind of addicting to ponder office fashion during these days of WFH & newly-inspired sartorial possibilities. I feel like many of us are in a space where rules can be bent, so let’s take advantage, eh? I mean it is 2023 after all. We’re shaking things up.
It’s no secret we all love a gorgeous summer dress. But what if that gorgeous summer dress could work overtime at the office? (Because we know you already do.) Turns out, it can. Throw a blazer on it. Yeah, there’s no catch. That’s precisely what I’ve done with the linen dresses below. And I must say, it works every time.
When I set out to find the best dresses to wear for “office to aperitifs,” linen felt right. And Reformation’s linen dresses in particular evoke the best kind of in-office & OOO confidence.
How To Style Reformation Linen Dresses For Work & Play
I scoured Reformation’s site for a dress (or two…or six) that will work for an office meeting and an (afternoon à la) Aperol spritz. All of Ref’s dresses have major Summer Staple Potential. But in case you need a little extra convincing, here’s why Reformation dresses (linen, specifically) are worth it.
- Linen: Their pieces are all pretty much to die for, but the linen creations are freaking special.
- Silhouette: They’ve somehow nailed like, every single one. It’s the 8th wonder of the world.
- Styling: They just get it right in their model pics, eliminating any doubt if a piece is really wearable, IMO.
- Price Point: All of these picks are $248 (except the last one — a sweet $218).
- Climate Neutrality: Like, for REAL. Ref is a certified climate-neutral brand.
So, why not Reformation? Unsure of why not. N/A. Get back to me on that one.
Here’s a quick list of the six dresses, just how you guys like it. (;
1. The Davie Linen Dress For A Classic Take
Starting off with the Davie Linen dress for some major versatility. It’s so office-y yet also summer on Lake Como-y — it’s magic. I’d venture to say that you could wear this in… every dress situation? Check me on that one. If I were to pick ONE dress from these six, it’d be this one because it’s a dress I’d wear Until The End Of Time to All The Places. It just has that vibe.
2. The Zienna Linen Dress For European Flair
This midi dress is so freaking sweet. The polka dots add a bit of playfulness but are totally toned down by the collar and structure of the sleeves. If you break it up with a semi-tailored blazer like this beautiful linen one from Banana Republic, you’re good as gold. I mean… did you SEE the detail? It’s a must-click-through. As for after-work festivities, add a fun sandal or heel and a straw accessory or two and you’re set.
3. The Prescott Linen Dress To Steal The Show
If you really wanna be the office show-off, this dress is for you. Not only will your bold style call some attention, but so will this bright pop of pink (or “corvette”). I mean, go ahead and strut. Pair with some neutrals or heck — go hot-pink crazy. Up to you, boss.
4. The Tagliatelle Dress For A Hint Of Drama
I think if the word ciao were a dress, it’d be this gorgeous red linen dress. For work, the neckline can be dialed back with a structured blazer layered on top, but be sure to rock that romantic décolleté when sipping on your Aperol spritz before ordering some cacio e pepe. It’s only right.
5. The Zienna Linen Dress For Business Chic
If you’d rather sport something more conservative, this navy midi dress is hard to beat. The collar and capped sleeves definitely allow for office wear, but it can be unbuttoned at the bottom (and maybe also at the top?) if/when you want to break free. Pair with darker accessories during the workday and lighten up with creams and colors for playtime. Simple.
6. The Zenni Linen Dress For A Retro Power Move
If your office environment is inviting to dresses above the knee…. go with this retro-ish linin mini dress. Throw a slightly (or very) oversized linen blazer over it, get classy with the shoes and you’re prepped for your 9 AM meeting through ’til 7 PM drinks. Just switch in some fun, laid-back accessories as soon as happy hour hits. It’s almost TOO easy.
