Spring has most definitely sprung here in western Michigan and to say I’m excited would be a bit of an understatement. I’m more like giddy as a schoolgirl on Sadie Hawkins! Moving to Michigan taught me the value of spring and summer REAL quick, and after the year we just had…
Your girl is feelin’ allll sorts of ways: excited and hopeful for the first time in about a year.
In anticipation for the warmer weather, I started shopping for my spring wardrobe in January(!!). My crisp white Converse platforms, purchased right after Christmas, sat untouched in my closet for almost four months waiting for the first nice spring day. So this year my spring mini-capsule wardrobe is a little bit more planned and carefully curated than previous years — but as always, the name of the game is: comfort + style. And if the pandemic has taught me anything, it’s how to incorporate comfort into my style.
Here are my most-loved and most-worn spring pieces of the year so far.
Denim, Converse, Birks & Bodysuits: The Mini-Capsule I Swear By Right Now
While I love my matching sweat sets as much as the next blogger, I’ve also just really missed wearing jeans every once in a while. So I steered clear of sweatpants and sweatshirts for this roundup. As the world starts opening back up, I’m looking forward to getting back out into it and desperate to feel a sense of normalcy again.
Comfort remains key for me this spring, so I’ve put together — what I hope — is a well-balanced, mini-capsule featuring some of my most comfy pieces. These include the softest quilted jacket I ever did touch, the breeziest joggers from Banana Republic, some Birkenstocks, and, of course, Levi’s (with stretch).
1. Comfy Layer: BLANKNYC Quilted Denim Jacket
It was love at first sight with this quilted jacket by BlankNYC, and then I put it on and fell in love with it even harder. It’s just a great. frigging. piece. And the best part is that it’s on MAJOR sale now at 40% off. (I can’t lie, I was low-key annoyed that I didn’t discover it until AFTER it went on sale for 40% off because it would have saved me like, $70. Whatever. Worth it anyway.)

2. Denim, Of Course: Levi’s Wedgie Straight Leg Jeans
Unlike a lot of Levi’s wedgie jeans, these actually have a decent amount of stretch, but still have a similar vibe to the Levi’s 501s — Levi’s most famously forgiving jeans. I also really love the fit and style of these, especially the width of the leg opening, and the distressing at the knees and ankles.
Tee (S, TTS) | Jeans (28, TTS) | Converse (Size 7, Runs Large)
3. Timeless Classic: Converse Platforms
As far as I’m concerned, Converse never goes out of style. They are a timeless classic. I just bought the Converse platforms after debating whether or not they were too similar to my regular Converse, but I love them so much more. They’re easier to pair with everything, especially jeans and joggers.
4. A Staple For Me: AGOLDE’s Rianna Ribbed Sleeveless Bodysuit
I know there are divisive opinions about bodysuits: some of us hate them, some of us love them. I am firmly on the ‘I Love Them’ team and this AGOLDE bodysuit is one of my favs in spring and summer.

5. Sweater Weather Must-Have: Free People Easy Street Tunic
This is easily my favorite and most-worn Free People sweater of all time. It’s been in heavy rotation in my wardrobe for a solid two years. It’s also one of the few sweaters that FP keeps selling year after year (hopefully they never stop). The styling and fit is just SO GOOD, and each year usually brings a few new colors. It’s the perfect length for an oversized sweater, but the tapered hem, chunky neck line, and fitted cuffs are what takes it from good to great. The little hint of tailoring gives it a cool, flattering silhouette.

6. The Other Pants: Banana Republic Stretch Cargo Utility Joggers
I’ve long relied on a pair of green cargo pants for spring (and sometimes even summer), but the ones I currently have are made out of a thicker fabric that’s not as comfortable as I’d like (and adds some bulk). So I’ve been on a mission to find pair of fitted, comfy, and slim utility joggers. I’ve been searching for awhile, but nothing has come close. However! I just discovered these Stretch Cargo Utility Joggers from Banana Republic and they look like they might hit the jackpot. Not only are they sustainable (made with super soft eco-friendly TENCEL™, LENZING™, lyocell and ECOVERO) they have all the details I was looking for: pockets galore, elastic cuffs and waist, and a tapered fit for a more slim-lined look. I just ordered, and will throw something up on social once I can finally try them on. (PLUS, they are currently 40% off!)

7. Duh: Birkenstock Waterproof Arizona Slides & Shearling-Lined Sandals
Is it even a spring (or summer) mini-capsule without at least one pair of Birks? I love the Arizona’s (I mean, who doesn’t?), and I’m a big fan of the Essentials Arizona Waterproof Slide Sandals because, at $45.00, the price point is unbeatable. Also, they keep coming out with really cool colors. Urban Outfitters has eight different colors, including light purple which I LOVE. Anthropologie also has them in green and yellow tie-dye, and they are awesome too. (And don’t get me started on the new Arizona Colorblock Sandals because I want BOTH color options!)
I’m also a big fan of the Arizona Genuine Shearling Slide Sandals. They work as cozy indoor slippers, but I’m not afraid to wear them out of the house, either. I have the ‘Stone Coin Suede’ and love this grey, neutral color — it’s a great shade that goes with everything.
