The Case For Oversized Linen Blazers This Summer

I’m a sucker for a super-soft, slightly oversized blazer for summer. Last year I found the perfect black blazer and wore it over everything from denim shorts to little black dresses to jeans and leggings…so when I found this linen blazer from Free People, I knew it would get a ton of use.

I love my denim jackets, but a linen blazer feels like a fresh update for 2023 (but don’t worry — denim jackets aren’t going anywhere!). The lightweight fabric and neutral color makes this my new favorite blazer for summer.

Lightweight & Versatile: Free People’s Oversized Linen Blazer Is My New Summer Fave

The best part about this linen blazer is how versatile it is. It can easily be dressed up for work or dinner with a pair of white jeans or pants, but it can also be worn with cutoff shorts or jeans for a more casual look.

One of my favorite ways to wear it is over a Reformation mini dress with white cowboy boots (a great option for concerts!), and I’m loving the monochromatic look when I pair it with my white flare jeans from Marine Layer — add some closed-toe shoes for work or keep it summery with these Dolce Vita sandals.

The fit of this Free People linen blazer is definitely oversized, but I wouldn't size down.

It comes with a tie around the waist, but I like the look better without it…and the loops don’t look out of place without the belt in it.

By the way, these Marine Layer flare jeans? Ahhhmazing. The color goes with everything and keeps things light for summer, but they still do a great job of smoothing things out (unlike some white jeans that show everything).

The high rise highlights curves nicely, and the fabric is thick enough that they’re not sheer at all, while the 2% elastane keeps them comfy. SO glad I found these for summer.

By the way, Marc Jacobs’ The Tote Bag is 100% worth every penny. I’ve been taking it everywhere with me, and I love the roominess. It fits everything I could possibly need (including extra sweaters for when the temps drop) and keeps the look polished. I have the Cotton color here, but I also love the Rose and Spring Blue.

This blazer comes in a number of different colors and is often on sale at different retailers. I love the mint color, myself (aka Grassland)…but the ivory is definitely my favorite!

XOXO,

Scotti
