Well, well, well. Nordstrom released its #NSale preview at midnight, and our first look has been great. Everyone seems pretty pumped about the selection (“Way better than last year!!” seems to be the prevailing thought), and over the next few days we’ll be dropping some capsule wardrobes and styled looks based on our favorite pieces. I always love seeing what our editors come up with, but if there’s a piece that’s caught your eye, we’d love to know about it. Leave it in a comment below, and don’t be surprised if it shows up styled somewhere.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2022: 5 Cute Fall Looks That Are Total Wins
After spending a couple of hours perusing the preview (oof, it’s 3 a.m. already), I’m thrilled with the boots and sneakers. I’m a longtime fan of a good tan (or taupe) boot — it’s basically my most-worn boot — and both PAIGE and Vince delivered. Additionally, if you’re looking for chunky, lug-sole boots, AllSaints and Ash have some seriously good options in the sale too.
I was also excited by the coat selection (oh, hey, maxi coats), and this sale has re-affirmed my love of flare jeans.
OK, Nordstrom: I’m in.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2022: Outfit Idea 1
Remember the cute blazer outfits in “Emily in Paris,” the ones we featured here? Yeah, I’m not over them, either. Those ideas definitely inspired this outfit. I love the idea of cuffing these straight-leg jeans and pairing with one of the most versatile boots on the planet: taupe. Oh, and the sexy bra is a reminder to try wearing the blazer as a top. (Or maybe just layer over a little cami, for maximum outfit flexibility.)
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2022: Outfit Idea 2
Ahhhhh…this is exactly what I want to wear all through summer — and well into second summer (aka fall). There’s just so much to love here: I have an almost-exact version of those KorkEase sandals and can vouch for their comfort and walkability, and that BAG (swoon) is from Black-owned business A A K S and is even more gorgeous in person. The Veronica Beard flares are a perfect shade of ’70s blue (but size up because they tend to run small).

I was so thrilled to see this Good American shacket in the sale. I have this exact piece at home (mine might be a little more ivory, less beige), and it’s GREAT. It has more of a sweatshirt feel, and it can be worn open (jacket-like) or as a shirt (which I actually prefer). I styled up this Good American shacket five ways here, if interested.
I also appreciate the slightly faded black wash on these jeans, and those boots are very similar to my beloved Ganni boots (but a lot less $$).
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2022: Outfit Idea 4
Once again, I’m going to focus on interesting basics, since those are the pieces I know I’ll wear again & again. La Ligne sweaters are always some of my go-tos, and I plan on wearing this one *not* tucked in. I think it could look effortlessly cool with a pair of flares and a trench coat.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2022: Outfit Idea 5
I fell in love with wool maxi coats last winter, so I was over the moon to see some in this year’s #NSale! The power of these coats is that they can take my daily uniform (jeans, sneaks, tees) in a decidedly chic direction.
Also, this exact shade of brown is a genius pick for a wool maxi coat. It’ll go with black, yet it reads much softer than a black maxi coat.

in previous years I have been able to create a wish list and this year I cannot. Am I missing something?
Nope – they just got a slow start. Many of the links and wishlists weren’t working last night, but it looks like it’s all resolved now!
Hi, thought I’d try again, since my comment last week wasn’t approved. Please mention, at least somewhere, that most stores will be understaffed this year, from sales people to web fillers, to customer service. We are human too! It’s a very stressful time of year, and we want to help to the best of our ability. Please don’t yell at us when we ask you your shopping level (we have to do it) please have your credit card (you know you are coming to shop) or put it in your app so it is ‘on file’ and take a deep breath.
I approved your comment when you left it last week! And replied with a thank you. 🙂 That said, a reminder for kindness is never a bad thing, so am happy to have this comment here, too.
As someone who has never completely bought into the oversized shacket trend, I have fallen hard for the AllSaints Luella Check Oversize Shirt Jacket. I love that it’s oversized but still slightly (but not really) cropped. If it lasts until I can shop, definitely snapping this one up.
Shana, did you see AllSaints named a sneaker after you?! https://www.nordstrom.com/s/allsaints-shana-sneaker-women/7057801
OMGGGGG and I LOVE IT. Thank you!!!
Thank you for all of the work you put in to make the NSale less overwhelming! Is anyone on the team up for creating an NSale (or non-sale!) capsule wardrobe for a week in Rome over the holidays? Think lots and lots of walking and some dressed up dinners with the in-laws. If y’all are really feeling it, I wouldn’t turn down capsules for the husband and the tween & teen boys, too. 🙂 I am a notorious over-packer and would love any help from the experts!
Ooo…we did Italy the summer before COVID, and all I wore in Rome were…dresses. With either sneakers or flat sandals. It was perfect. Mike wore linen button-downs and either linen suit pants (at night) or shorts. The boys wore seersucker shorts and short-sleeve button downs (or striped tees), all from J.Crew. Raines is too old for that now, so I’ll be dressing him like Mike (we’re headed to Turkey this summer). Anyway, I’ve been meaning to pull together an Italian packing list FOREVER. But honestly, I haven’t seen anything in NSale I’d recommend for your trip. Actually, that’s not true. Curious about the Timo dresses. If they are, in fact, 100% silk, they’d be great. But if they have a polyester lining, you’ll overheat.
More looks like “Under the Radar” please! Also loving “When Fall Feels Like Summer” (because it always does) and “Bye Bye Bye”. Looking forward to more TME Nsale posts!
You got it!
Aaaaaah it’s the most wonderful time of the year! 😀 I thank you all in advance for the long hours I know you put in for this event. It’s super appreciated!
In another example of Nordstrom’s egregious photoshopping, I’d love to see what the PAIGE Manhattan High Waist Bootcut jeans look like on a human. I mean… look what they did to that poor model’s thighs and the ankles of the BOOTCUT jeans… they tapered them? LOL why?! Anyway. Same request of the AG Farrah Fray Hem Bootcuts (15 Yrs Brickwork) since again they’ve decimated the legs. I’m also looking hard at the Rebecca Minkoff Edie Chevron Quilted Satchel… it’s so hard to pick one color!
I’m sure there will be more that catches my eye but those are my first reactions. So excited!!
Ok – so the PAIGE thing is…actually not Nordstrom. At least not the bottom part. PAIGE does some weird thing with their Manhattan bootcut jeans – they are baaaarely bootcut. I have a love-hate relationship with that style. Depending on my shoes, they either look flattering like bootcuts, or like I’m wearing some overly long straight-leg jeans. You can see the issue better at Zappos, actually: https://shopstyle.it/l/bIGTb
The AG Farrahs, however…I can’t quite figure it out. I have an old pair of AG Farrah skinny jeans, and they do fit like leggings. Even Zappos is showing some pretty skinny thighs: https://shopstyle.it/l/bIGTJ
But then on AG’s website, it’s much less extreme: https://rstyle.me/+a_QrbpNY5fZmtt38UHGmjA
Gahhhh I do hate photoshopping. It’s so unhelpful.
As for the Minkoff Edie…the black-on-black-on-black reminds me of the YSL bag. 😉
I love these looks and would love to see the Vince boots styled different ways
You got it!
