The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is right around the corner now, and I’m so glad they’ve given us this preview time. I feel like it helps me be more thoughtful and deliberate with my choices rather than just frantically adding all the things to my cart and crossing my fingers that everything works (been there, done that).
So after much, much thought and lots of perusing, I feel like I’ve nailed down a pretty awesome fall capsule wardrobe. Each piece here makes me smile — and that’s kind of the point, right? Wearing clothes that make you feel good! I mean…now that I’m over my loungewear rut (kidding. I’m actually in PJs as I type this.) But I am excited for this new chapter of, you know, wearing “real” clothes.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2022 Capsule Wardrobe: Glam Earth Tones
The biggest surprise for me with the wardrobe I came up with is that there’s no black. I mean, I love black. But my closet is full of blacks and grays — I need some color in my life. And after meeting with Julieta, TME’s own color guru, I realized how much of a difference wearing the right colors can make. So I swapped my usual shades of gray for earth tones: rich navy, warm creams and tans, and my favorite, gorgeous shades of olive and sage greens.
This wardrobe is actually making this summer-loving girl look forward to fall.

Outfit Idea 1: Jeans & A Sweater (But Better)
I fell in love immediately when I saw this Reiss wool-blend coat. I love the cut, the color, and the fact that I could wear it over a Little Black Dress and a T-shirt and jeans. The Free People turtleneck is one of those super-cozy sweaters that’s perfect for fall, and I love the pop of color from these olive-green Charles David booties and AllSaints backpack. I’m excited to try those RE/DONE stovepipe jeans too. They’re high-waisted and straight-legged, and with a 27-inch inseam, they’re short enough to show off those gorgeous boots!
Outfit Idea 2: One Pretty Chic Poncho
I’m loving the ’70s vibes of this outfit! The Nordstrom V-neck poncho is a cashmere-and-wool blend, so it’s perfect for when the weather starts to turn. I have it layered over a cami here, but it would also look great over the lace turtleneck or long-sleeve bodysuit. Pairing it with leg-lengthening flares and heeled boots is my short girl go-to, but you tall ladies could easily wear this outfit with flats!
Outfit Idea 3: We’re Going On A Day Date
That coat is back! And the wash on these Hudson cropped straight-leg jeans is fall perfection — with a 26-inch inseam, I might not even have to hem them. The white bodysuit will go with everything (without having to worry about the tuck), and it’s machine washable and dryer-safe! (It also comes in black…hmm.) Add a pop of color with the boots, a statement crossbody bag and some classic aviators, and you’re good to go.
Outfit Idea 4: A Little ’70s, A Little Prep
This green cardigan by AllSaints is the perfect length to wear with high-rise jeans like these flares. I love the whole cardigan-as-a-shirt thing too. And I’ve started to pay attention to what my sweaters are made from. This one has no acrylic in it (a mainly acrylic blend usually means tons of pilling and one-season wear), so it will last longer than those that do. This navy Sam Edelman peacoat caught my eye because of its shorter length — it makes it feel a little more modern. Oh, and this AllSaints sling backpack. So unique. It can be worn as a backpack or crossbody, and the color is 😍.
Outfit Idea 5: Slightly Victorian Vibes
You guys. This mock-neck lace top…it’s just absolutely gorgeous. It’s definitely a splurge but can be worn in so many different ways. It’s a great layering piece and would work under the long tan coat, navy peacoat or poncho. You could wear it over a pretty bra or over a skin-toned cami like the Nordstrom one below (it comes in a number of colors). I’m also loving these navy EILEEN FISHER boots! They have a walkable heel (under 3 inches) and are made from a knit fabric that pulls on — these are one of my number one picks! (Oh, and check out the video of this bag…it looks slightly less brown/more nude in person!)
