I am not typically a follow-ALL-the-trends-kind-of-gal.
I love watching others rock the latest bold and brave fashions, but personally, I gravitate toward styles with a more classic appeal. In particular, I’m drawn to pieces that I see sticking around in my closet for longer than just one season.
But when I spot a popular trend that strikes that magical balance between being both current AND retaining a certain classic charm, I absolutely take notice. Quilted jackets like this one have quickly piqued my interest.
Are Quilted Jackets The New Coatigan?
And when a trend not only fits my personal style, but ALSO meets my strict comfort requirements? And looks awesome with denim? Gah!!! Well, you can see from the photos…this fall trend was too difficult for me to resist.

The quilted jackets I’m personally most drawn to this fall are the ones with chic style elements that feel like a fresh interpretation on the classic.
Although I’m a HUGE fan of coatigans, I have to admit that the quilted jacket has a polished vibe that’s a bit more versatile and easier to dress up than some of my long, cozy cardigans.
Heads up: This jacket from The Great is definitely not budget-friendly. It is, however, GORGEOUS and a VERY special piece if it IS within your budget. I’ve shared some absolutely fabulous quilted jackets in a range of budgets below.

The Case For Quilted Jackets This Fall: Keep It Cozy & Stylish
The fact that quilted jackets are grabbing a huge amount of attention this fall at pretty much ALL the retailers is understandable. They’re warm, comfy, stylish, and ideal for chilly fall mornings.

There’s also a huge variety of styles within the quilted jacket arena. If you’re sporty-chic, this one from Zella and this beauty from Athleta are both super cute. Plenty of traditional options (like the beloved Barbour quilted jacket) or elegant variations like this asymmetrical Norma Kamali wrap jacket.
How I’m Styling The Parks Corduroy Jacket By The Great
The moment I put on my new corduroy quilted jacket by The Great, I immediately wanted to coordinate it with all the gorgeous fall colors.
This quilted corduroy jacket is a stunner with a stylish vintage vibe. It is made from soft corduroy that is lightly quilted, with a contrasting satin lining that peeks out when worn unbuttoned. So pretty!
I also adore how the wooden toggle closures and tape trim give it a cool vintage vibe.

Eileen Fisher Merino Wool Turtleneck
I’m a big fan of Eileen Fisher’s perfectly boxy swingy sweaters and tops, and this one fits in perfectly with the other Eileen Fisher favorites in my closet. Plenty of other gorgeous chocolate brown sweater options as well, though, if this one isn’t for you. This fitted turtleneck sweater in Merino wool turtleneck from Uniqlo is under $50, and I’ve been eyeing this Naked Cashmere beauty as well.

Modern Denim: MOTHER Roller Hustler Heels
I love these jeans SO much that I have them in two lengths. I hemmed one pair of the MOTHER Roller Hustler Sneaks to wear shorter with platform sneakers, and then hemmed the jeans shown here (the MOTHER Roller Hustler Heels) to wear with platform boots or tall clogs. The wide-leg silhouette feels modern and the stretch, feel, and fit of MOTHER denim just can’t be beat.

Fall Boots: Marc Fisher Block-Heel Platform Booties
Not from one of my typical comfort shoe brands (and I wouldn’t wear these ALL day long walking the city pavement), but these Marc Fisher booties are plenty comfortable for walking a mile or so and make me SUPER tall without feeling wobbly. The block heel combined with the platform work double time to lengthen my shortie legs in full-length denim.
Any quilted jackets I’m missing in this round-up? Feel free to share!
