I am a shoe girlie through and through.
Shoes are my absolute favorite when it comes to fashion, and I think they are the one piece that can take a boring outfit from being just okay, to cool. As a 5’2″ shorty, I tend to gravitate toward shoes that give me a little extra height. However, this year I have a much more varied approach to my shoe game.
Not only is it the summer of the Samba sneaker, there are most definitely a few other shoe trends that I am excited to wear and try this season. I am so stoked for all the sunshine, summertime festivities, and these are the five shoes I will be wearing all summer long.
The Shoe Trends I’m Trying This Summer
- Slides: Is it even summer if you don’t have a great pair of slides to slip into?! I think not! I am a babe who wears slides 365 days a year, and in fact, I have worn the heck out of my absolute favorite pair of all time — these gorgeous Gucci slides. Clear Block Heels: Every summer wardrobe needs a great pair of clear block heels that you can dance in all night long. From summer weddings to nights out with friends to walking around the city, trendy block heels are an absolute must for my wardrobe. Flip Flops: Put a finger down if every year when summer rolled around your mom took you to Old Navy to pick up several pairs of flip flops, the only shoes you would wear all summer. Yep, that was me! Long gone are the days of me living in nothing but flip-flops from Old Navy, but this year I am adding an oh-so-comfortable pair into my rotation. The Olukai flip-flop is like the crème de la crème summer footwear. They are a pretty penny, but the comfort of these supportive flip-flops makes the price well worth it. Samba Sneakers: The sneaker of the year is hands down the adidas Samba. Fashion influencers, celebs, and all of TikTok have coined the Samba sneaker as one of the most trending shoes of the year. Not only are they cool AF they are also oh-so comfortable and look just as good with jeans as they do with linen dresses. Salomon Sneakers: IMO the Salomon sneaker is the hottest dad sneaker on the market right now. And if I am being totally honest I have mixed feelings about them. On the one hand, they are hella comfortable, perfect for running and working out and having a serious moment in the world of fashion. But on the other hand, I don’t really love dad sneakers. I am hoping that these will grow on me because there are elements I love about the Salomons (not having to tie your shoes is pretty great), but I’m not sure that they are my vibe. I’ve been right on the brink of pulling the trigger on the Olukais (I’ve had boots from them for about 15 years now and love them–in addition to loving my pair of flip-flops from them from years ago too) and I may have to do it now!!
