As a petite person with shorter legs, jeans with a really flared leg are not my favorites. But more than my height, it’s my style personality. I’m sure someone with a similar body type but a different style personality loves them and rocks them like no other. So every time I see flared jeans pop up in my feed, I say, “No gracias. Not for me”.
But bootcut jeans, the universally flattering style? It’s all me. I rocked bootcut styles this summer with printed summer shirts tied at the waist, and now I’m ready to transition them into fall.
On-Trend: The Best Shoes & Boots To Wear With Bootcut Jeans
Not only are bootcut jeans flattering on every body type, but it seems like this style is going to be the next big thing. I couldn’t be more thrilled that bootcut jeans are back!
My favorite pair of bootcut jeans are the Levi’s Ribcage Bootcut jeans (see a guide to Levi’s Ribcage jeans here). Even though I have to hack many inches off of them, I already own three washes. If the super high-rise is not for you, I got you. Try the Levi’s 725 Bootcut for a lower rise and more stretchy denim. Or make an investment with this stunning MOTHER pair.
How Do Levi’s Ribcage Bootcut Jeans Fit?
- These jeans have 1% elastane, and the high amount of cotton means they will break in and stretch a little.
- They still feel rigid compared to super stretchy denim, but the 1% makes a difference.
- If you like a snugger fit, size down. I’m a 26 in most brands, but here I went for a 25, and they were perfect after a couple of wears.
- Size up in the darkest wash; it’s the most rigid wash. I own the light, medium and black wash, and they all fit great in a 25.
How To Avoid Hemming Bootcut Jeans For Different Shoes
If you, like me, mostly wear low heels, having a pair of platform sneakers will allow you to switch without any issue. My P448 sneakers have a platform, and my booties were only 1″ higher.
The Best (& Most Practical) Shoes To Wear With Bootcut Jeans: Platform Sneakers
Is clothing even mom-approved if it doesn’t work with sneakers? No, nothing is.
I need to be able to wear my bootcut jeans for school drop-off, pick-up, the playground, a soccer game…which on another note, seems it’s all I’ll do this season with my son joining the travel team. Platform sneakers feel as comfortable as regular sneakers (if not more so), but they give an extra bit of height that makes them work beautifully with bootcut jeans.
Do you know who rocks this weekly? My mom. I’ll do a shoot with her at some point. But I’m telling you, she often wears her Levi’s Ribcage bootcut jeans with sneakers and a cute top. I can’t remember who inspired who, but it’s an option on days you don’t want to wear tight leggings or skinny jeans.
The Best (& Most Practical) Boots To Wear With Bootcut Jeans: Pointy-Toe Chelsea Boots
For a more elevated look, change out the sneakers for nothing less than pointy-toe boots. These are those FRAME white booties from the NSale, and they’re probably my best purchase this year. When it comes to bootcut or full-length straight-leg pants, I like pointy shoes to elongate the leg. While these FRAME booties are, technically, chelsea booties, if you look for western-inspired booties you’ll also find similar styles with the low heel and pointy toe.
Then I add accessories, a tad more makeup and done. Ready for a night out with friends or partner in 10 min.
This Good American sweater has become my most-worn top lately. I love how with a simple change of underneath top, it gives a whole different vibe. You can also do it with a cardigan or a button-down.
