5 Ways I’m Wearing This Madewell Linen Blazer

I fell in love with Madewell’s Larsen linen blazer at first glance. It’s as simple as that, friends. I mean, look at this color. This green-eyed lady is in heaven in this.

But I’ve been a longtime fan of linen blazers, no matter the color, so I thought I’d style this baby up for y’all because it’s my favorite part of the gig. Easy, sporty, chic summer outfits…here we come.

Size up in Madewell's linen blazer if you want an oversized look.

Fit Notes: Both the Madewell blazer and matching vest fit true to size, and the vest has an elastic panel at the back, making it a custom fit with no button gaping for those of us with bigger chests or ribcages. Hooray! Size up in the blazer if you want an oversized look, but to me it runs a little roomy to start with.

A Few More Linen Blazers To Try

Like you probably gathered above, I adore this sea-green Madewell blazer, but if you’re opting for another color, there are some great options out there right now. This blue! And a light ivory, flax or other neutral would be so versatile. Madewell and Free People make some of my favorites, but that Reformation blazer is gorgeous too.

Styling Up Madewell’s Linen Blazer: 5 Chic + Sporty Outfit Ideas

I don’t think it’s just those of us in temperate climates who need a great top layer for summer months. When I travel home to the South, I always need a great jacket to carry with me because of blasting AC everywhere. I know many offices are freeze-out zones, so swapping out your rest-of-the-year blazers for linen in the summer just makes sense there too.

I love a blazer look in general, and the softness + lightness of linen means I don’t have to leave my blazers behind during warmer months.

Whether you’re headed to a meeting, a nice brunch, a baby shower or date night, traveling where you need shoulders covered, on a chilly airplane, or just want to upgrade your outfit instantly, a cool linen blazer does that in all occasions.

I included styling notes with each look, so you can re-create them with pieces you already have in your own closet.

1. For Brunch Or The Office: With A White Denim Skirt + Matching Vest Top

I'm loving this white denim skirt this year, & it works fabulously with the linen blazer from Madewell.

I’m really loving this white denim skirt from Gap (this one is selling fast, so here’s a similar option) this year, and it works fabulously with this linen blazer. Here, like in the first pic above, I’m sporting it with the matching vest top. I’m not a matching-sweater-set gal, like ever, but give me a rad vest-and-blazer combo, and yep, I’m IN.

Styling Notes: I’m loving the bright white with this soft sage green, and I chose neutral shoes (covered toe for the office peeps) here. Stick with a neutral shoe option that matches your own skin tone here for a leg-lengthening look. I like to do that a lot when my skirts hit below the knee.

2. Make It Sporty: With Ivory Pants + Neutral Sneakers

The Madewell vest top is cropped but works great with all of my higher-rise pants & skirts.

Oh, my beloved Everlane barrel pants…I love you so. They’re just so comfy but have that great interesting shape that keeps me coming back. This combo is my favorite, and I’ll be bookmarking this outfit to wear on repeat. The Madewell vest top is cropped but works great with all of my higher-rise pants and skirts — and with the blazer on top, I feel great in it.

Styling Notes: This monochromatic combo on the bottom is a great way to work in a pretty color or matching top set. Keep the pants and shoes in similar neutral shades, and they don’t fight or compete with the pretty shade of your jacket and top.

3. Easy Breezy: With A Plain White Tee + Black Linen Pants

I popped this white tee from Madewell underneath & repeated the bright white in my sandals (Birkenstocks, of course) to tie it together.

Since these linen track pants from Caslon are a forever fave, I knew I needed to try them with the blazer too.

Styling Notes: I popped this white tee from Madewell underneath and repeated the bright white in my sandals (Birkenstocks, of course) to tie it together. You could do this with any tank or tee where you have sandals or shoes that coordinate: taupe top + taupe sandals, brown top + brown sandals, or go all black with everything but the blazer.

4. For Every Day But Upgraded: With A White Tee + Teva Sandals

A fully monochrome ivory-base outfit would be pretty w/ the Madewell blazer being the standout color.

Styling Notes: Here I swapped back in the ivory barrel pants and my ivory Teva midform sandals to give a monochromatic look on the bottom. It would work with the white Birks here too because I have the white tee on. A fully monochrome ivory-base outfit would also be pretty with the blazer being the standout color.

5. Earthy With A Pop Of White: With A Linen Tank Top + Denim Skirt

I like wearing pointed-toe shoes in my skin tone when wearing skirts or dresses below my knee, for a leg-lengthening effect.

Styling Notes: Last but not least, I paired this drapey, warm-tone linen tank from Banana Republic with a white midi skirt again. A color similar to the tank is repeated in my shoe choice, so it looks intentional. Strappy gold or other warm neutral sandals would also be cute. I do like pointed-toe shoes in my skin tone, again for that leg-lengthening illusion.

  1. Oh! I have the old Navy blazer in the off-white color. It’s been great. Looks way more expensive than it is. I don’t really shop Old Navy much anymore, but this was a pleasant and super affordable happy surprise.
