Julieta first introduced me to Brazil-based Farm Rio, asking if we’d like to “add some Latina joy to our closets?” Uh….
I’ve been a fan ever since. And there’s no better time to wear these truly stunning dresses than in summer. Farm Rio dresses are typically made from natural materials (cotton, linen), and the designs tend to skim your body, rather than squeeze, making them some of the most comfortable dresses I’ve worn. But what Farm Rio does best — what it’s really known for — are its jaw-droppingly GORGEOUS patterns.
Frankly, the Farm Rio product images (even on models) never do these dresses justice, and I have a hard time figuring out from those online photos which one I want. So, I ordered a bunch of my favorites from the current line (most are 100% cotton, two are linen blends) and tried them on. Watch to see how these dresses move and feel, and hopefully this helps narrow your search for a pretty summer dress.
Summer Dress Goldmine: Vibrant Prints, Sexy Cutouts + Wild Patterns
My Top Pick: Oddly enough, even though Farm Rio is known for patterns, my favorite dress of this try-on (or maybe ever) is Farm Rio’s cutout knot midi dress (in ivory). It’s shockingly flatting, and the cutouts are strategically placed, so I can sit and eat in this dress without weird stomach squishings. If you don’t mind a tiny bit of black peeking through, you can even wear it with a black bra. There’s a fun little reel here, if interested, from when I wore it out for Mike’s birthday. This dress is also available in red…or even a tropical print.
My Next Favorite: This swingy little mini dress can be worn with a real bra, and it’s so cool on because zero fabric ever touches your skin (other than at the bust and shoulders). Whenever it’s so hot that I just can’t even…this dress. (P.S. It’s on sale too!)
Not Technically A dress, But… This top-and-skirt combo is ridiculously cute together, but each works great with other pieces too. This is the kind of stunning pintuck blouse that can be thrown on with jeans, and this miniskirt is bananas cute with a graphic tee. Both pieces are currently on sale too.
All The Farm Rio Dresses Featured In The Video
As I mentioned before, photos NEVER do these dresses justice, so if you really want a better idea of how these pieces look, watch the video.
Here are the dresses featured in the video, in order of appearance. I also included a few different retailers to ensure you can find the best size and price.
More Farm Rio Dresses
Happily, I was able to find a few more Farm Rio dresses on sale! I tried to stick to dresses that were mostly natural fabrics, so most of the Farm Rio X Anthropologie collection was out.
Are you guys Farm Rio fans? I’d love to try the swimsuits next…
