These Are The Best Pants To Wear This Summer

I love linen clothing for summer as much as the next guy, but have you tried cotton gauze?

I’m obsessed (ehh, that’s actually probably an understatement).

My love for this fabric began a few years back, but the wide-leg pants from Gap I scooped up this spring have put me into the “never-taking-this-off” territory.

Gap’s Crinkle Gauze Wide-Leg Pants Are Summer Outfit Perfection

Cotton gauze, or crinkle gauze as many retailers like to refer to it, is what I consider as the softer cousin of linen. Both fabrics are breathable, hypoallergenic, and perfect for your summer wardrobe. But where linen wins in durability (from a tighter weave), cotton gauze wins in flexibility. Both seriously good qualities, but I’m a sucker for that soft, stretchy feel.

Based on reviews, the crinkle-gauze fabric is nothing new at Gap, but I didn’t notice Gap carried it until it released a (now-sold-out) button top as part of the Project Gap line. I was seriously impressed, and it even stacked up against my favorite double-gauze top from Free People (if you’ve been around the blog for awhile, you’ve seen me wear that top on repeat).

As Gap began sprinkling more cotton-gauze clothing into its Spring Arrivals section, I began happily scooping them up. But the Crinkle Gauze Wide-Leg Pants? Are pretty much perfection.

Cotton-Gauze Wide-Leg Pants From Gap: A Tall Girl’s Dream

I’m just a notch under 5’10”, and I almost always prefer Gap’s long or tall inseams, but the tall cotton-gauze pants are technically too long for me. Technically. I love the look of pants pooling around my shoes right now, so I happily kept them (and even wear them hiked up pretty high on my torso), but they would be genuinely fantastic for someone 6 feet and even taller!

If you’re afraid that these Gap pants might be too long or wide for your frame, Gap also carries crinkle-gauze straight-leg pants that are even lighter and easier to wear.

Gap’s Crinkle Gauze Wide-Leg Pants remind me a lot of the surf pants you can get from brands like Roxy, Billabong and Ripcurl. Pants that were made for beach days and vacation. Pants I have ALWAYS wanted to wear, but have always run too small and short for me.

Gap came through swinging for us tall humans with these summer pants — and because it’s Gap, with its glorious inclusive sizing, there’s also the option to grab the pants in petite.

I’ve gotten so much wear out of these wide-leg pants that I scooped up two colors. They make a perfect beach cover-up, and I love throwing on a light summer sweater with them to go from the sand to picking up dinner. I live a very casual lifestyle, but these pants would be just as cute dressed up with heels and a date night top too!
