We had such a good time at Carolina Beach last month. We stayed right on the beach and our hotel balcony served as front row seating for an epic storm that rolled in.
Once the storm blew over (thankfully cooling things down a smidge), we took a little stroll along the boardwalk. Vans, cut-offs, and a pretty little top was the perfect mix of comfortable and cute.
What I’m Wearing To The Boardwalk This Summer
Sooo…I ended up keeping those white diaper shorts. AGOLDE Parker shorts are my favorite denim cut-offs in general, so I figured the white would, eventually, soften up/calm down/do whatever they needed to do to stop with the diaper vibes. (And many of you assured me they’d do just that.)
It’s funny, but now I think they look great.
Besides, there’s something about white cut-offs that instantly elevates an outfit. They make the outfit feel a little special, even when worn with my beloved Vans. The inherent preppiness of the white shorts are completely offset by a chopped hemline and skater vibes…while retaining plenty of girlish charm.
And speaking of girlish charm…I find there’s no better place to find charming little tops than Reformation. If ever I’m in need of a cute little top, Ref is always my first (and often my only) stop. Not only is the vibe spot-on, but these tops are sustainably made, too.
Boy’s outfit notes: The boys are wearing J.Crew shirts (Pax’s is gone, but Raines’ shirt is on sale). Mike is wearing J.Crew’s chambray pants and an old Bonobos shirt — he loves Bonobos’ short-sleeve shirts. For those of you asking about Mike’s camera bag, it’s Domke’s 5-FX. His colorway is old, but it’s the exact style of the bag I linked up.

All of these tops are from Reformation, so they’re all made from eco-friendlier materials. Even better, Ref has a rather gorgeous selection of plus size options, too.
